Sunset lodge is a quaint lodge on a small island outside Guadalcanal. The lodge is charming and the beds are super comfortable. It is a family run place and everyone is very friendly and efficient. The food is spectacular... Fresh fish, fresh fruit, etc and the portions are huge. The lodge arranges many options for spending time such as volcano... More

We caught a banana boat from Vila out to Savo for the day as a family of 3, including our 11 year old daughter. The trip out was a little scary as we were going fast and there was a fair bit of debris in the water. Not only that but the boat was takin on a fair bit of... More

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of a group on a conference. The island is a beautiful place, just gorgeous. The staff were quiet but pleasant. However, the accommodation leaves a lot to be desired. If you just want a roof over your head to keep you out of the rain and sun, then it's fine, but I found... More

Savo Island itself is a fantastic natural escape from Honiara. The volcanic water and non--logged mountains, sunset over the water, flying fish - all beautiful. Come to Savo for this - do not come expecting the Sunset Lodge to be anything other than a spartan bed for the night. Food is Solomon's basic, drinks is literally only Solbrew and Cola.... More

Well where do I begin with this place. My partner and I arranged to stay here for a couple of nights via the tourist information centre in Honiara. We had a bit of time to kill after an amazing time travelling around western province, and after the encouraging reviews of the place from the extremely helpful people at the info... More

I had no expectations when I came to Savo for a quick break from Honiara. The accommodation is very very basic to say the least, but it was a roof over my head for the night. The staff were awesome and food lovely. I came to Savo with a school group who were here to experience Solomon Island culture. There... More

"Mike R" has it totally right in his review. The place is a dump. I could hardly sleep with the noisy fan. They add all kinds of hidden costs. Also, some of the staff were rude and I had to deal with outright incompetence on a couple of occasions.

We visited Savo resort from Guadalcanal for a day in August 2015. We drove 30 km from Honiara and were met in an open fibreglass boat with wooden planks for seats. On arrival on Savo, we were treated to coconuts with straws to drink the water, a nice welcoming touch. We travelled by boat to visit the dolphins, and took... More

A day tour with a choice of dolphin watching, volcano trek, waterfall trek and village visit. Opted for the waterfall walk and had a good 1 1/2 trek to a warm sulphur pool. Very enjoyable, fun guides and cold beers afterwards at the shady beach to recover.

I have to give this place a bad review I'm afraid and it's nothing nasty but folk should be aware of some things before they go. The accommodation block is a half finished wreck, tiles unfinished, plasterboard never completed, floor to ceiling cracks in corners, rusting window grates and bare old floorboards adorn the place. They lock up the block... More
