This is a comfortable, basic, hotel in Port Vila. The rooms are comfortable, with good A/C; the pool area is nice. The hotel doesn't have internet, but sells hotspot cards at the desk (expensive) that connect you to really bad service (less than dialup speed at night); instead, purchase a sim card at the airport with a good data package...

The Melanesian took really good care of us who came in during difficult times after Cyclone Pam. The staffs were very friendly, helpful and quick with providing necessary service. I think the Japanese management is what makes these happen. The rooms may not be modern, but well kept with everything working as they should. If there were any problems, they...

Dear Zohei, Thank you for staying with us at the Melanesian Hotel despite the dreadful weather. We trust that the staff did make everyone that stayed during that time feel safe and we thank them for that. After TC Pam, major clean up but the nature repaired itself faster than we can keep up. We thank you also your wonderful...

Stayed at the Melanesian twice so far on different business. Seems pretty average on the outset, but the room setting and lively environment (especially in the weekends) made it all worthwhile. The Melanesian is conveniently located on the higher end of town and everything you need from convenience shops, restaurants, and the CBD are all accessible on foot. Gotten to...

I travelled to Vanuatu with colleagues to work on news coverage of the devastation caused by cyclone Pam. Hotel accommodation was at a premium due to lack to power in Port Vila, so five of us crammed into a 2 bedroom apartment at the Melanesian Hotel for the first night. A second room was found for nights 2-5 giving us...

Special thanks to the staff at the Melanesian in Port Vila where we were evacuated to as a safety precaution in the leadup to Cyclone Pam. We had one lovely day there before the cyclone hit and enjoyed the atmosphere and cocktails around the pool, as well as very nice room. During and after the cyclone the staff and management...

My friend & I originally booked a holiday package through Virgin Australia to travel to Vanuatu & a 4 night stay at the Melanesian Port Villa. Unfortuantely due to Cyclone Pam where the country itself suffered unprecedentual damage, airport shutdown & the lost of water & electricity, we were never able to experience this wonderful country. In addition to the...

Dear Beeleeeee, TC Pam was not pleasant at all for a start and it did make so much damage to the island itself. The Melanesian hotel did suffer minimal damage and did tried to be operative within three to four weeks. We sincerely apologies that you were not informed properly when making reservations and bookings, however, we do have an...

Stayed here for a week in early January. Re-furbished rooms. Found the beds quite OK after reading earlier reviews. Staff are very friendly and eager to assist you. Fairly central to main town - about a 5 min walk. Supermarket even closer. There are no lifts/elevators so look at booking ground floor accommodation if necessary. Overall a most pleasant experience.
