The hotel staff are kind and always willing to help. The room was sizable, very clean, and quite comfortable. The staff were kind enough to assist us in arranging a guide in Bagan. Our every need was taken care of. I hope I'm lucky enough to return someday!

We were welcomed as the first guests after the re-opening in November 2016. Our first impression was mind-blowing. We have stayed in many "leading hotels of the world", but this is really a class of its own. The service leaves no wishes open. We were indulged by Christophe, the chef of the star winning restaurant. And even if you are... More

Our first time to Yangon and what a wonderful hotel to stay at and start the trip - full of history, impeccable service and the infamous Strand bar of course. Breakfast is everything to shout about because a hot breakfast can be had in the room with coffee within 10 secs of our wake up call or leisurely at the... More

We had morning tea at the Strand and it was very pleasant. I am not really interested in 'posh hotels' but the building is beautiful and the old photographs of Yangon are fascinating. As expected, the refreshments were beautifully presented and delightful.

We decided to stay here on a snap decision, after cancelling TH and VN holidays. The Strand has about 32 rooms on three floors and reopened a couple of weeks ago after a long remodel. Butler service on every room, staff who recognizes and appreciates you presence. By the time you get to your floor, they have your room key... More

Returned a week ago from 2 nights at the renovated Strand Hotel and 3 nights on the brand new Strand Cruises. Elegant, sophisticated, an experience within itself before you even add in the magic of the country and the warmth of its people. The Strand Hotel is the ONLY place to be in Yangon and the butlers will ensure your... More

Just stopped for coffee and to use facilities. Nice cappuccino although had to ask for sugar. 2 small cakes complimentary but no serviette. Toilets very good for Yangon. Coffee 5,900 or about £3.50. Looks like nice hotel and staff friendly.

We went here for afternoon tea. Entering the hotel we felt as though we were stepping back in time. Such a lovely colonial building with its distinguished character and such a relaxed and calm atmosphere! Afternoon tea was excellent and so was the service. Staff were very attentive and friendly. The location on the river is very convenient for visiting... More

From Yangon International Airport to the downtown is about 30 minutes, which costs around US$8-US$10 by taxi. The taxi stopped us in the centre of the colonial downtown area of Yangon, where The Strand is situated. We were welcomed by a smiley local gentleman. He led us to the reception. It was a swift check-in process before we were taken... More

The Strand Yangon closed on 1 May until November 2016 to undergo a complete facelift that will return the award-winning heritage hotel to its former glory. Constructed in 1901 in a classic colonial style, the hotel will retain its heritage architectural details, such as marble and teak wood flooring, ceiling fans, chandeliers, lacquer wood furniture, Burmese antiques, and signature service elements, while being given a complete upgrade and contemporary twist through a refreshed colour palette and subtle decorative details. The interiors of all the hotel's 31 suites will be redecorated in keeping with the Strand's legendary style and elegance, while at the same time updated with the latest technology, including new air conditioning, sound and communications systems. The Strand is famous around the world for its flawless, personalised service and suites will continue to be attended by the hotel's team of highly trained butlers.
