Carefree enthusiasm is everywhere in this energetic neighborhood centered on Hongik University, Korea’s top art school. From its assortment of murals to the occasional amateur street performances, creativity and expression make up the wild and beating heart of vibrant Hongdae. At the Free and Hope Market (weekends at the Hongdae Children’s Playground) you'll find one of Seoul’s most popular handmade and creative markets drawing consistent crowds. At Hongdae, there’s never a shortage of things to do and see; food and drink options are nearly endless as are shops and noraebang (karaoke) rooms. Hongdae is also one of Seoul’s top party and club scenes catering to a younger demographic; if a packed club isn’t your scene, you'll also find a range of music venues and bars offering live music in all genres. Although Hongdae has lost much of its unique appeal and undergone rapid commercialization in recent years, be sure to explore Hongdae’s edges in areas such as Sangsu-dong and Yeonnam-dong where Hongdae’s fiercely independent streak still runs freely.

For the biggest part of our stay we stayed in a 3-4 person room which was decent for size, but the room was very unclean. There was black mold nearly everywhere, the toilet was loose and unstable and clearly too old to be used for a guesthouse. The kitchen wasn't properly

This is the kind of place criminals would hide from the government. The place has extremely poor beds, dirty room and dirty bathrooms. The door has a lock which is never closed so everyone could just walk in. On top of that you can hear the sound of a club every night in your

It's in the middle of Hongdae so it's close to a lot, if not all, of things. Shopping, food, subway, 24-hour convenience stores, parties, etc. Communication is also not that hard in these parts since the market includes students and foreigners. The rooms are kinda spacious, the

"Take the a/c remote with you when you go out, or hide it so the manager cannot take it. Also, be aware that he will go into the room daily to open windows and to check that everything is turned off."
"I tried the shared room and i didn't encounter any problem. Maybe you should consider getting the private room if ever you're with someone and you guys need some extra privacy."
"Hey 2 is much better but it is not good if you have big luggage as it has a steep stairs."
"If you have an outside room, it's much noisier because of the roaming packs of students."
