This place was fairly clean, the bed was stiff but normal by Korean standards. We were in the tree room with the circle bed. The bathtub was cool because it was squishy on the bottom but not in a gross way, more like an exercise mat kind of way- but still smooth. The toilets were really nice and clean. We...

Yes, it is a love motel, yes, it is not the cleanest, the towels are worn, and when the window is closed there is no daylight in the room. BUT: it is the best love motel I've ever stayed at! I can only speak of the suite, which was spacious, had a nice design and everything we wished for as...

If you are considering staying at Hotel 2 Heaven, it is probably because of the price or location. But it also might be for the "love motel" experience. This is a "love motel" - it is very inexpensive because it is rented by the hour during the day to couples who don't have other places to meet. This subsidizes your...

This hotel is surrounded by great restaurants and is 5 mins from a metro stop. We stayed here for 2 nights and had a lovely time. Although the rooms are small and a little dark they are functional and clean by Asia standards. The bed was not the most comfortable and the pillows were very hard. The staff were very...

This is a love hotel for couples looking for some privacy but also a great option for very comfortable room in great location. Not sleazy just clean and private. Bed is very comfy but guess that makes sense considering it is a love hotel. There are no food optiona in the hotel but unlimited options within a few minutes walk....

When travelling in South Korea one soon realizes the difference between a motel and a hotel. Well, in Seoul many old motels are obviously being upgraded to hotels, with arguable results. This is one of them. The hotel is a poor copy of design hotels. Although the different themes of the rooms may appear interesting, it just lacks of personality...

Different, to say the least. If you are a couple on holiday, or in Seoul on business, this is a pretty good option as the location is brilliant, but it's probably not a hotel you go boasting about staying in. I was there for 3 days, but most other guests are only there for around 3 hours! Despite that, or...

Staying in Gwanghwamun / Jongno

Neighbourhood Profile
Gwanghwamun / Jongno
If Gwanghwamun is the unofficial living room of Seoul, Jongno is the main hallway connecting some of Seoul’s most important historic sites and neighbourhoods. Being one of Seoul’s oldest neighbourhoods, the area is rich with history and culture in its palaces, shrines, and temples. Stand in the centre of Gwanghwamun Square with Gyeongbokgung Palace and Mt. Bugak in front of you, King Sejong the Great statue behind you, and modern office buildings encircling you—it’s one of the best ways to experience both past and present Seoul in one spot. The main street of Jongno is mostly dotted with restaurants and cafes, but explore deeper within its intricate alleys to pass decades-old restaurants, mom-and-pop shops, and pojangmachas (tents that open at night for quick bites and drinks) and life seems to run just as it did a decade or two ago. Don’t forget to stop at Gwangjang Market, Korea’s oldest traditional market, where it’s just as fun to explore as it is to eat the affordable market dishes that locals have been enjoying since the market first opened in 1905. For a break from urban life, walk along the restored Cheonggyecheon Stream that runs parallel to Jongno for a moment of natural refuge in metropolitan Seoul.
