We had the pleasure to stay at the Grand Hyatt during our short stay in Seoul. The room we had was not very large but it offered a beautiful city view. In my opinion, the room was a standard business room (for American standards). The hotel offered a nice fitness facility along with a sizable pool to swim laps. We...

As a stopover hotel this was pretty much as good as it gets. The evening buffet was amazing in its selection and international variety, beautifully presented and very tasty. The same again with breakfast. All alcohol was expensive by European standards but good quality. The rooms were quiet and spacious and the beds were like sinking into a cloud. The...

Dear Guest, Your feedback is the perfect reminder of how much compliments matter; it gives us the inspiration to strive higher each day. We were truly pleased to hear that you enjoyed our buffet selection as well! We provide a free shuttle bus service down to Itaewon and Myeongdong area but you are right, the bus can get full quite...

The Grand Hyatt offers the best of both worlds - walking distance to central Itaewon where there are plenty of restaurants, cafes and shops and also across the street from the quiet serene Namsan park. Rooms are a bit outdated but offer fabulous views. The grounds and hotel amenities are wonderful!

Positives: good location, interesting view from the main lobby, bed extremely comfortable, service extraordinary, nice plush bathrobe, quiet room. They even offered me a humidifier upon check-in as it was very dry there. Quirks: Plug-ins were not very adapter-friendly, e.g., their placement was such that a Chinese computer plug could not fit. Also, no plug-ins were located anywhere near mirrors...

OK, this is a nice enough hotel. Even if they did close the health club this week for the visit of Vice President Mike Pence. What gives with him??? It's ages since I last visited this propery; the rooms have had a make-over. All very nice except for one ridiculous bathroom inclusion. The basin taps (hot and cold) turn in...

This hotel is very fine and 5 stars. The food is outstanding and the rooms are very comfortable. There are great views from a lot of the rooms. The hotel shuttle is great for getting down to the shopping & restaurant area.

This hotel is a really good hotel, the service is great, the breakfast is really diverse and very good (the avocado/salmon sandwich and the dim sum are fantastics). The rooms are really nice, clean and well equipped. The location is really good, nice neighbourhood Beware you will need between 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach the...

Located on a mountain hilltop right next to a beautiful park during cherry blossom season. Couldn't be a better place for the season. The cafe and wine shop off the lobby was terrific. JJ Mahoneys in the basement is an experience to write about. Cleaning service was a little spotty but overall a good experience, especially for the expat business...

The hotel offer a very nice view looking over Seoul or Namsan mountain but it is a bit trade off with accessibility to Subway station. But it is also not so far from Itaewon where you can have all the food and nice chill out place. The room itself is a typical standard 5 star hotel without any WOW factor......

Staying in Itaewon

Neighbourhood Profile
Itaewon
Neighboring the immense Yongsan American Garrison, Itaewon was once shunned by locals as a seedy, red light district. But within the past few years, Itaewon and its surrounding neighborhoods such as Kyunglidan and Haebangchong have undergone a major revival to quickly become one of Seoul’s hottest areas. Here, trendy international restaurants dot the area alongside hip lounge bars and some of Seoul’s hottest club venues. After dark, Itaewon comes into its own as one of Seoul’s top party scenes. The crowd is a fascinating patchwork of all backgrounds and identities, including a small but thriving Muslim community (centered on Korea’s sole mosque), the LGBT community (with a string of popular bars and clubs), and a wide range of ethnicities and cultures scattered around. Those seeking a quiet respite should head towards the eastern end, in Hannam-dong, which not only has one of Korea’s best art museums, the Leeum Samsung Museum of Art, but plenty of mid-range to upscale restaurants and cafes.
