Pros : AFFORDABLE nice 'little' room. About 10 to 15 mins from Anguk Station - you can get to palaces and also the Bukchon Village and MMCA. Cons : Just pray that your neighbours (the other guests) do not talk loudly at the hallway. Luckily, I only encountered one such sonic assault in my 6 nights stay. Tips : Do...

Stayed at Lavinia for six nights, and I found it to be in a very convenient location. A subway station minutes away (with a small Korean royal palace with free admission along the way to visit), a convenience store and various eateries nearby, and of course, a lot of major tourist spots (Insadong, Myeongdong, various Korean palaces) within walking distance...

This property is near in MRT. This might be simple guest house but it is very clean especially the comfort room. And you can check in early without additional payment as long as room is available. I will surely stay again in this property in my second visit in Seoul.

The location is good. Lavinia is just a couple of minutes walk to Anguk Station and Insagong Street. The place is relatively quiet because it's in a small side street. We had a family room that was very small - two bunk beds and not much room in between. Luckily there was some kind of spare room where we could...

I came to Lavinia for one night at the start of my trip to Seoul. My flight arrived a bit late - 11pm. When the taxi driver called the hotel 3 times to ask for directions in Korean (which I do not speak), there was no one at the front desk to answer the calls. I finally arrived to the...

I have stayed at Lavinia twice now, and have been a very happy guest! Close to many attractions as well as the subway, and they have now expanded to use the whole building with a new reception desk and kitchen/cafe area on the main floor (they only had the top few floors on my first visit). Being such a short...

I stayed here for several weeks. When departing Lavinia the Banana Backpackers (also awesome) moved to a different location near Yongsan. Thus, Lavinia expanded to all floors (aka Alice and Lavinia). This is a family ran business. The downstairs area was being remodeled for the Kitchen and break room / check in areas and for the addition of Alice. The...

Big and clean room for two persons. Also in the room has air conditioner, hot water and ondol. It's near subway to go any where and surrounded by many palaces and temples. Insadong is just 10 minutes walk distance.

Have stayed here over my last 2 visits to Seoul. Great place in Insadong, close to the traditional centre & tourist spots like the bukchon hanok village. Sharon + Vicky are great hosts and very helpful. The rooms are on the small side, bed slightly too hard, shower and toilet are all in one but for it's price worth it....

Staying in Gwanghwamun / Jongno

Neighbourhood Profile
Gwanghwamun / Jongno
If Gwanghwamun is the unofficial living room of Seoul, Jongno is the main hallway connecting some of Seoul’s most important historic sites and neighbourhoods. Being one of Seoul’s oldest neighbourhoods, the area is rich with history and culture in its palaces, shrines, and temples. Stand in the centre of Gwanghwamun Square with Gyeongbokgung Palace and Mt. Bugak in front of you, King Sejong the Great statue behind you, and modern office buildings encircling you—it’s one of the best ways to experience both past and present Seoul in one spot. The main street of Jongno is mostly dotted with restaurants and cafes, but explore deeper within its intricate alleys to pass decades-old restaurants, mom-and-pop shops, and pojangmachas (tents that open at night for quick bites and drinks) and life seems to run just as it did a decade or two ago. Don’t forget to stop at Gwangjang Market, Korea’s oldest traditional market, where it’s just as fun to explore as it is to eat the affordable market dishes that locals have been enjoying since the market first opened in 1905. For a break from urban life, walk along the restored Cheonggyecheon Stream that runs parallel to Jongno for a moment of natural refuge in metropolitan Seoul.
