I stayed here twice in same year one is in March one is in July. The location is quite good but when I have many stuff to carry then it is quite tired coz it located at the slope and it takes about 15 minutes from the Hongdae exit on foot. But the location is ok as there are a...

Stayed here for five nights during my stay in Seoul. The highlights for me are the friendly staff - who take time to make sure you know where to go, can give very good instructions for how to get there, make recommendations on things that perhaps people don't usually flock to and also ensure your stay is comfortable. It isn't...

IIt was the best vacation I had because Mark and his staff were helpful and friendly. Beds are comfortable and it´s located near to everything: subway, convenience stores, clothe stores, coffe shops... It´s near to parks and places to see and meet different and fun people!!

I've been to Kpopstay couple of times for the past month. I choose it because the bed looked so sturdy and also I felt like there is some privacy. I was exactly right. Both times I had a wonderful sleep. After the first time, I brought my friend, and he told me he slept better than the bed in his...

I booked to stay at the mixed dorm but the owner seemed to have thought it'd be better for me to stay upstairs in an all girls room. People are so nice, as soon as I arrived someone opened the door for me, Mark helped me carry my suitcase up, a new friend showed me a quicker way to the...

The day when I arrived to the hostel with six friends. My friends went into the room to unpack their stuff but I decided to chat with the staff about some suggestions and recommendation. She is really nice and she is a Taiwanese who can use Mandarine to communicate with me. She told me a lot of tips in Korea...

I had a great stay here. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and the hostel location was perfect. Easy walking distance to many shops, restaurants, and bars/clubs. My only complaint would be that there wasn't a bar. It would have been nice to sit in there and have some drinks before and after going...

I stayed in this house cause it's quite different from the other guesthouses I've stayed at. It's a house, not a building with corridors so that's wonderful. Good: Very clean, and the staff are very nice. Shout out to Riri (sorry if I spelled it wrong!) who has been very nice since the day I arrived. Quite interesting to talk...

Loved the people there, almost felt like family. I traveled alone and made so many nice friends :) The pod beds are really big and private. I would definitely stay there again. Hongdae is the best place to stay for any 20something year old. Kpopstay is so close to everything in Hongdae and easy to walk home after a night...

This was a good place to stay at. It was at Hongdae area which I think is also as cool and as busy as Myeongdong. What I like: - No transfer of lines coming from Airport. Train station: Hongik Univ - situated at Hongdae area which is also a good place for shopping, great food finds and just chilling out....

Staying in Hongdae

Neighbourhood Profile
Hongdae
Carefree enthusiasm is everywhere in this energetic neighborhood centered on Hongik University, Korea’s top art school. From its assortment of murals to the occasional amateur street performances, creativity and expression make up the wild and beating heart of vibrant Hongdae. At the Free and Hope Market (weekends at the Hongdae Children’s Playground) you'll find one of Seoul’s most popular handmade and creative markets drawing consistent crowds. At Hongdae, there’s never a shortage of things to do and see; food and drink options are nearly endless as are shops and noraebang (karaoke) rooms. Hongdae is also one of Seoul’s top party and club scenes catering to a younger demographic; if a packed club isn’t your scene, you'll also find a range of music venues and bars offering live music in all genres. Although Hongdae has lost much of its unique appeal and undergone rapid commercialization in recent years, be sure to explore Hongdae’s edges in areas such as Sangsu-dong and Yeonnam-dong where Hongdae’s fiercely independent streak still runs freely.
