Booked a 3D/2N stay at the hostel on March 2015. Location is great as you can walk to several tourist locations from the accommodation. It is also located near a train station and the airport bus station. Room which I stayed in ( 2 Persons in a double bed) is basic and small. If you are particular about space, this...

Short review - ideal for those who are there to explore Seoul and use the hostel for a place to sleep, wash and eat. It is a hostel, not a hotel, but honestly you don't feel any inconvenience with having a kitchen downstairs, beautiful rooftop terrace, air conditioning, WiFi, tons of TV channels, a fridge in the room and very...

My daughter booked 8 nights stay at the Yellow Brick Hostel through Expedia for her self and a friend. She followed this up with an email a week before the stay was due to start and received a confirmation email from Han stating that they had the reservation. When they arrived on the 10th June they were told there was...

Let me start this review by saying that we normally enjoy 5* hotels. In this case, I asked my son to book me and his sister in a not too expensive, well located, peaceful and very clean place to stay for 3 nights. We were here only for sightseeing and on a very tight schedule. We just needed a place...

Very basic budget hostel.Rooms are very small, feels like in a jail cell, barely enough space for luggage. People in the staff are helpful as much as possible, you can rent several things from the reception, including transport cards. Breakfast is self-service, you have some eggs and bread provided and you need to cook yourself. It's located not far from...

Tiny hostel near to the metro station. Tiny but very clean and quiet rooms. The hostel provides free breakfast (as much eggs and toast as you want :)) and free wifi. The rooftop terrace is very nice on summer nights.

I was in Seoul for a short trip and the hostel was situated very well for me to visit the palaces by foot and catch the subway within a couple minutes walk. The breakfast in the morning was plentiful and most importantly the staff were friendly and very generous in assisting with enquiries.

First and biggest advantage of this hostel is the fact it's near the city centre and tourist attractions such as Insa-dong, palaces and shrines. It is located also near subway station, several convenient stores, money exchanges points. Staff was really friendly and always tried to help us. You are also offered a free breakfast - yes, it's true that breakfast...

Staying in Gwanghwamun / Jongno

Neighbourhood Profile
Gwanghwamun / Jongno
If Gwanghwamun is the unofficial living room of Seoul, Jongno is the main hallway connecting some of Seoul’s most important historic sites and neighbourhoods. Being one of Seoul’s oldest neighbourhoods, the area is rich with history and culture in its palaces, shrines, and temples. Stand in the centre of Gwanghwamun Square with Gyeongbokgung Palace and Mt. Bugak in front of you, King Sejong the Great statue behind you, and modern office buildings encircling you—it’s one of the best ways to experience both past and present Seoul in one spot. The main street of Jongno is mostly dotted with restaurants and cafes, but explore deeper within its intricate alleys to pass decades-old restaurants, mom-and-pop shops, and pojangmachas (tents that open at night for quick bites and drinks) and life seems to run just as it did a decade or two ago. Don’t forget to stop at Gwangjang Market, Korea’s oldest traditional market, where it’s just as fun to explore as it is to eat the affordable market dishes that locals have been enjoying since the market first opened in 1905. For a break from urban life, walk along the restored Cheonggyecheon Stream that runs parallel to Jongno for a moment of natural refuge in metropolitan Seoul.
