You won't get closer to the pyramids without paying a huge cost! Things go up and down in Egypt. Just go with the flow.(or the current Egyptians will say) But it is usually up to scratch as far as western standards go. It is secure and safe and clean. Ask for a pyramids view room and you won't be dissappointed. It might cost a few more $ but worth it. Also join the SPG hotel group and this will help. It is my second home while working in Cario. Be nice and you will be rewarded. Is it Luxury? Not as much as the Oberoi Mena House across the street. But it is good and you will not be dissappointed. I've had good rooms and not so good rooms but never bad. It is a very good mix of western and eastern culture. I am a single female and it was perfect. There is a very nice spa pool and steam rooms in the lower levels and the pools are clean and nice. Service is usually very good. Food and drinks are available and wifi in the lobby in a nice bar/lounge area. There are two other restaraunts in the hotel. I have eaten at both of them...one italian and one mexican great for supper and the hotel restaraunt has a very good breakfast (west and east) and lunch. Room service food is western and the club and ceasar salad are very good. Enjoy. I have also travelled Israel as a solo female. You will love it.
