We have just spent a week at this hotel. We have previously stayed at the other historic Accor hotels in Egypt. We booked a luxury, Nile facing room. Immediately entering the room we were somewhat disappointed. It was a big room with a high ceiling and double french windows leading onto a balcony which just held cane chairs & table....

I have been visitng the Winter Palace for the past fifty years. While one can be somewhat nostalgic for its former days as a member of the Egyptian Hotels Company chain, one can also appreciate the improvements made to it as a member of the Sofitel chain. Many of its loyal guests return yearly for its famous New Years Eve...

The Winter Palace has been the preferred resting place in Luxor for nearly 150 years. Lord Caernarvon stayed here at the time of the opening of Tutankamun's tomb. Nowadays it offers comfortable accommodation, lovely gardens, swimming pools, bars and restaurants. Particularly relaxing is the massage, available for a man, a woman or a couple

All of Egypt is suffering from a lack of tourists. This "Grand Dame" hotel is not an exception. The public areas and rooms are all a bit shabby. Three restaurants that should be open according to the "in-room" guide are not. After 5pm, you have only two choices of where to eat - expensive or mid-price mediocre. It is what...

I am not joking either... After an hilarious ride from the airport with the funniest taxi driver I have ever met who took me on a tour of the sugar cane fields because I said I was not in a hurry, I arrived to find the drive way into the Winter Palace was packed with (my guess) several millions English...

The Winter Palace is an escape from the noise and hassle of Luxor. It's a former royal palace, and as grand as you would expect, with a big sweeping staircase and lots of period furniture. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious, and (on the garden side at least) very quiet. The best part is the lovely garden, with palm...

This is a lovely building, as other reviewers have said, and is in a brilliant location. However, I would probably go against the grain, and suggest that staying here is not worth the price premium: the single rooms in particular are quite small, particularly the bathrooms, and with no control over the air conditioning, and no option to sit out...

This was such a wonderful experience to stay. The staff were awesome, especially the gorgeous and amazing Saeed. The atmosphere was of elegant timelessness and as a special surprise, staff upgraded us to Lady Evelyn's suite (daughter of Lord Carnarvon who sponsored Howard Carter's archeological discoveries). We were treated like royalty and had the best time in Luxor! I would...

The grandeur of this palace hotel is out of this world. You are transported to a different age. From the marble staircase to the beautiful gardens and pool, elegant restaurants, and great service--it doesn't get better than this! Rom had a beautiful view of the Nile and beds so comfortable.

Thank Jane D
