Stone House is a great mid-range hotel in Lamu town. It's prettily set out in an old building a few streets back from the waterfront. Downstairs there's a lovely courtyard with palm trees, and on the rooftop there's an excellent restaurant and a verandah for relaxing in the evenings. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable, with nice touches...

We were met by super friendly hotel staff at the airport who carried our bags to the boat and all the way to the hotel. Marta, the manageress made sure we were comfortable and had us order our dinner immediately so that it would be ready on time that night. We had the seafood platter which was excellent. The drinks...

With a hidden entrance, palm trees in the court yard, steep steps on the side, architecture from centuries ago, rooftop terrace, old stone walls, a view of the ocean, wooden shutters in the room, a view of the ocean and a Lamu bed to sleep on, Stone House is every thing an authentic stay in Lamu should be. Not only...

We booked the hotel in advance on the recommendation of Lonely Planet. After one night we checked out, because we found a much nicer place to stay for half the price. We forgot our smartphone in the room and did not get it back.

This guesthouse is the kind of place you want to email everyone you know after staying there and tell them to book a holiday to stay there immediately. It was truly spectacular from start to finish. The guesthouse is in a stunning old Swahili building, and we were lucky enough to stay on the top floor with incredible views of...

Words can't explain my feelings for this small island... Every day we woke up in this town it felt like a dream. Stone House was the hotel of our choice and it did not disappoint in any way. The staff were warm, welcoming and helpful. We went during the low season so me and my boyfriend had the whole hotel...

A lovely mix between a hostel and a boutique hotel. Simple rooms in a beautiful old stone house. Ask for a room on the top floors for the view of the old town of Lamu! The staff is very friendly and helpful. We recommend booking the room w/o breakfast, even though the rooftop terrace is beautiful for the views. We...

Stone House is aesthetically beautiful, perfectly located and very friendly. The house is a multi-story traditional Swahili house, beautifully maintained. My room (top floor) was spacious, airy, nice bathroom, with a cool view over the town. The rooftop restaurant looks out on to the sea. The food is good (homemade bread) and they do serve alcohol (contrary to what Lonely...

My wife and I visited the Stonehouse on our vacation last June and were totaly BLOWN away by the experience. We have always enjoyed vacations that are off the beaten path and were told about Lamu by a friend of ours. Upon doing some internet research (very little about Lamu online) we decided to go with the Stone House and...
