Our 2nd floor balcony overlooking the sandy approach to Shela and line of fishing boats and dhows was a bargain itself. Add the mosquito-netted traditional Arabic beds, eager-to-please staff, and delicious fresh fish meals and you have the perfect spot to experience the varied cultures of Lamu island. You can wander around Shela village, walk the beach, or go into...

Just recently stayed in this guesthouse with my wife for 3 nights and we had a great stay. The room on the first floor had a great balcony with view on the sea. The restaurant serves great local dishes and the staff is friendly and helpful. Can recommend this place to anyone!! Beaches are great in Shella and the village...

We found it a very decent place to eat with very reasonable prices (can't judge the rooms, didn't stay there). Everything was fresh, well prepared and tasty. With so few tourists in Lamu, they hardly stock anything. So if you want anything slightly more sophisticated than just grilled fish and rice (for instance, oysters or samosas), order in the morning...

My friend recommended this place and I booked through booking.com without looking too hard--I accidentally booked in Lamu Town when I was aiming for the location in Shela. They are on the same island but different towns. As a solo female traveler, I felt weird in Lamu Town staying on my own, it's less convenient to get to the beach,...

My friends and I took over the entire guest house earlier in the month. We had been recommended to stay here by other friend and I would not hesitate to do the same. Hamid the owner and his small team went out of their way to accommodate us. He personally came to collect us from the airport jetty and organised...

Me and my partner visited the beautiful island of Lamu last week and stayed at the Stop over Guest house in Shella. This hotel is one of the best I have stayed in. It's pleasant, very quiet and extremely clean. The service is personalised and the staff are very friendly. The rooms are very beautiful, overlooking the ocean with traditional...

There are two places called stopover on lamu island. One is in lamu town and one is in shella. I stayed in lamu town. It is a pleasant little place, quiet and clean with nice balconies viewing the harbor. Staff were kind and helpful. This is NOT a party place at all. Quiet relaxed evenings are what it is all...

Was a great weekend at the guest house! Beautiful rooms overlooking the sea and lovely balcony with Swahili beds. The staff are very friendly. I would recommend this place for family holidays and for groups of friends or just a nice quiet getaway for yourself.
