It's magical to wake up outdoors on the rooftop-terrace and watch the sun rise over Lamu, and then start the day with omelette and fresh fruit. And thank you Bahati for teaching us to play Bao, we are still playing. When in Lamu I can also recommend dhow-sailing with captain Simba, his crew cook amazing food.

Planning to go to Lamu for a week,I thought that I would have to empty my wallet for a decent place to stay, but then I found Kilimanjaro Guesthouse! Kilimanjaro is perfectly placed 3 blocks in from the sea front giving you easy access to the main high street and the main road by the sea. From the roof and...

Kili is a perfect place to quiet down and relax absolutely. Lamu has no stress whatsoever and Doshi is the ultimate guy to relax with. When the time came to fly back to Nairobi I honestly thought about leaving everything behind and just staying in Lamu. It's that good.

I was a bit scared about flying to Lamu alone and choosing a hotel through a website but I had a fantastic time. The hotel was nice, clean, confortable and just a few steps from every where. I felt safe and very warmly welcomed. Hope to be back! Thanks Bahati for your kind hospitality.

We had a great experience. The rooms were exactly what we were looking for: clean and at a reasonable price. The terrace has always been a great spot to meet other people and spend time in talking and listening good music. The staff has been always great.

I stayed at Kilimanjaro Ghesthouse during the last Christmas hollidays and everything was just perfect. They wellcome me like if I were part of their family, with an excellent Christmas lunch and a nice walk around the village. The place is very good located, they picked me up from the airport so no worries about getting lost:-) I went out...

The best points of the place : the people there are very helpful and welcoming and the hotel is situated in the center of the town. The building is an old one and has some charm. For the rest : it is really an "auberge", do not expect a palace! The rooms are very basic, not that clean, there isn't...

Would NOT recommend. We had booked the "rooftop penthouse" but due to a problem in the hostel's online booking system, we were given a smaller room on the second floor that looked more like a prison cell. While the local staff was as helpful as they could be, the owner was nothing but rude and disrespectful, dismissed our concerns off-hand,...

Owner is a great guy so i feel bad doing this but... Bedbugs. In the room i stayed in. Can literally RUIN your whole holiday. Guy who was working there when we were there was SO grumpy and unhelpful. Breakfast took 45 mins to come. Rooms are bleak, toilet/shower grim, and bed was broken. Really overprices also. Forget it.

“We stayed in the rooftop apartment. I can really recommend that to have a chance to sleep outdoors, and experience the breeze and the sunrise. But if you are sensitive to sounds the rooftop terrace also comes with prayercalls from the mosques and the donkeys crying out their sorrow :)”
