Booked it as it was suggested by my travel advisor. The lodge is very nice and serene setting along the famous Mara river. Hippos chilling in the river while you have you breakfast, lunch or dinner. The driving to the main olaloolo gate is 25 mins. Which was the downside as the drive to the gate seems never ending. The...

Imagine spending a night by the banks of River Mara. Having to see crocodiles and hippos everytime you peep through your tent window. And dining with thee animal as they put up a spectacular basking and splashing show. Thrilling right? You do not have to imagine further, you can have first hand experience at Olonana Sanctuary Mara, our second and...

What a beautiful place with an amazing staff to make sure you have the most incredible experience. We stayed for 4 nights and Maurice was so accommodating and made sure we had Tent #15 which is one of the honeymoon suites. The suite is very private, very nicely decorated and spacious. our honeymoon suite is with lots of privacy and really stylish! The hippo groans daily but the atmosphere, the surroundings, the high level of service, the food, the care the service staff and chef took to delight us and make it one of our ultimate best experiences for us. we also enjoyed our daily half day game drive to hunt...

We did a 1 week safari with Abercrombie & Kent in Tanzania and decided to add 3 days in the Masai Mara at Olonana. What a great option. All our stays had previously been 2 nights and it was so nice to have 3 nights in such a beautiful camp. The "tents" are huge, ours was #1, so nice and...

On our grand safari tour of Africa Sanctuary Olonana really stands out. The facilities are immaculate and luxurious. The service can't be beat. The views of the hippos in the river sun bathing and swimming every morning and night makes this stand out among even other luxury safari destinations.

My wife and I spent 3 nights in this sanctuary. It's our first stop of a series of 3 safari trips in Kenya and Tanzania. The stays here was super satisfying. The staff and the camp manager make an extra effort to make sure things were well taken care of. The villa we stayed in was very tastefully done. Our...

We spent 4 nights here and we could not have been taken care of any better! We want to thank Maurice the manager; Lukas our terrific safari guide; Julius our interpreter with the Maasai tribal wedding and our protector for our nights back to our tent; and Shadrack for helping with pictures and video of our wedding. I loved my stay. I spent 5 nights here and I wish I could have stayed longer. I don't even know where to start. First, the tents are magnificent. All are situated right on the Mara River. The noise of the river just lulls you to sleep. I loved having morning coffee on the veranda overlooking the water was a...

One of the finest properties I have visited in the Mara. They could do nothing wrong. Super courteous staff, delectable food, superb alcohol menu and how can one forget those great house wines. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Sanctuary Olonana, our award-winning tented camp situated on a private stretch of the Mara River, recently undergone a significant upgrade to the public areas of the lodge as well as a soft refurbishment to the tented rooms and pool area. The interior decor reflects a contemporary design using a combination of light earthy tones and the local Maasai women played an active part in the refurbishment using the same traditional technique used in their own houses to “mud” the interior walls in all of the main areas and curio shop. From the main viewing deck see and hear the family of noisy hippos who colonise the banks below the camp. Relax with a good book in the library, cool off in the pool or for an extra special treat, experience traditional African remedies and spa treatments in the mini-spa. Oversized Safari Tents – Built on the banks of the Mara River, the twelve canvas tents at Sanctuary Olonana are extremely comfortable and spacious. The ensuite tents all have two four-poster beds with floor to ceiling mosquito netting – making them perfect for families travelling with small children. Each of the private verandas overlook the river and offer the perfect spot where guests can relax and watch the resident hippos wallow in the water. There are also two honeymoon suites with each featuring outdoor showers. ... more   less
