The housemaid let herself in just because no one answer the door! Unbelievable! She even explained she did knock and ring the bell. She looked like the behavior is totally reasonable and rational. We can not believe this is the service provided by Westin and this is our first experience here! It never happened before anywhere else. Please take this complain into your consideration while you evaluate your standard of service because it can be very serious and leads to various kinds issues!

Beautiful hotel. We stayed here for two nights at Christmas. The food was great and the rooms were luxurious. Problem with the heating but management took great care of us. We're looking forward to returning in the near future.

As other review mentioned, the doorman/concierge staff were lack of passion for service. No greetings, no help with luggage. The weird thing is the hotel does have a fancy Lounge, but Marriott members cannot check in/out from the Lounge. All people have to line up at the lobby to check in. No priority check in for even Titanium members. Fortunately, the staff helped me check-in, Mavis Li, was very friendly and professional. She apologized for the waiting, upgraded my room, and introduced the facilities, and did the whole check-in process quickly. Her extraordinary services and the way to put customers satisfaction firsts, saved this review from 3.5 to 5. The room was big and loved the foot massager. The gym and pool are well maintained. The breakfast buffet is excellent, lots of choices to choose from, staff quickly collect used dishes. Over all it was a great stay, just the whole arriving and check-in experience was not so good. Hopefully, it can be improved.

My husband and I are both titanium and platinum members, and it played no role in our stay; didn’t feel welcomed checking in but oh well. Then the carpet, the chemical smell, give you a headache and sore throat kind of smell. I couldn’t stand it but my kids were too excited to be in a hotel, so okay, stay. Then the highlight of this experience: the kids wanted to play in the shower but had no hot water after running the tap on for more than 30 minutes-(yes I timed); the maintenance guy said we’ll have to run it for more than 30 minutes every time to have hot water because they didnt have enough guests staying so the water didn’t circulate well, as it’s super normal, and of course found no need to apologize. Then the manager on duty gave me 2 options: she had another room available which was really far (our 2 rooms were next to each other) we can either move there or make a trip to shower in there and come back every time. I found it ridiculous on so many levels. I have to carry my chubby 3 year old and walk all the way to the other side to take a shower and then come back ? Or move us away from my husbands room completely? Just that one room was her only solution while the maintenance guy told me there weren’t enough guests to even have normal hot water usage. After expressing not happy with her solution she asked me“what is it that you really want?” Their poor ability of basic problem solving, no desire to provide any sort of customer service , and lack of empathy... A terrible experience.

My husband and I were a little disappointed by the interactions we had at this hotel. Upon entering the hotel, the staff by the door both inside and out did not greet us, which is fine but it did come off as unfriendly. Then after a long time of waiting to check in, we were told that our room wouldn't be ready for several hours. When we asked how long, she said she didnt know. It was almost 4pm at this time and check in is at 3pm. She finally said it would be ready in 3 hours and that we could use the gym and pool while we wait. After we expressed how ridiculous this was she magically had another room that was ready. If there was another room of the same style available, why even put us through this awful check in experience? Anyway, the room was big but has an old school decor. The shower didn't get really hot but on the plus side the bed was comfy, the aircon worked wonderfully and the foot massager was a nice touch. Overall, the customer service upon arriving sucked but the room itself was nice enough.

The Westin Chaoyang is located right in front of Liang Ma Qiao subway station, making it extremely easy to get around the city. (Beijing’s subway system is extremely efficient and easy to use. On this trip, I also used it to get from and to the airport, on the advice of a fellow TripAdvisor reviewer. I fully agree with him that this was a far better option than being stuck in traffic in a grotty taxi.) There is a small mall right behind the hotel that offers a number of eateries, but I suspect this mall is far more active during the day as it caters to the office crowd in the vicinity. The hotel’s lobby is huge, and some may find this rather impersonal, although I feel the designer was going for a futuristic look with its high ceiling and geometric lights. My suite was very spacious and comfortable. I liked the Chinese style bedside tables and TV console in the living room, as these give the room a lot of character. I also really like the massage chair, a thoughtful touch. This proved especially useful, perhaps necessary even, after I spent the day hiking a crumbled, unrestored section of the Great Wall. However, as many reviewers have pointed out, the hotel could use a touch-up. It may not need a full makeover just yet, but it will definitely benefit from a soft refurbishment. I enjoyed the breakfast - love the ice cream! I also enjoyed the time I spent in the Executive Lounge - working during the day, and cocktails in the evenings. What makes this hotel truly 5-star is its staff! They are warm and friendly, while being efficient and professional. In particular, I would like to thank Aimee and her team - especially Erin, Ann and Vivian - in the Executive Lounge for taking such good care of me. Aimee was kind and proactive in assisting me with all my requests, while her dedicated team of staff was so attentive and hardworking! This is definitely Asian hospitality at its best! This is my choice hotel the next time I find myself in Beijing! Finally, I just want to point out that the hotel’s name, Westin Beijing Chaoyang, doesn’t seem to match its Chinese name, Jinmao-Westin, and this may cause confusion in some situations.

I was a little let down with the stay. I arrived the hotel by taxi, and the staff helped with the luggages. The receptionist was very helpful and i checked in pretty quickly. The rooms were ok, but surely it is beginning to age. I'm sure management is aware of it and there were some constructions going on. Thank goodness the work happening next door started later in the morning of my departure. The room was big, the bed was comfortable and seems to be clean. I did have a problem with the shower and I'm not impressed. Approximately five minutes into showering, the water stops running and I have to turn off the tap for maybe one minute and try again. This happened 3 of the 5 nights of my stay. I was a bit shocked the first time it happened, honestly. When I wanted to have a drink at the bar, I called to ask where it is. Initially, I was told it's on the 4th floor, but it turns out to be the spa when I got out of the elevator. I had to ask again and it's now just outside of the restaurant on the second floor. Apparently the bar is being renovated or something. It felt weird sitting in the hallway and you can hear all the noises coming from the lobby and the function rooms. I was listening to people singing karaoke and partying for the 1.5 hours while having a drink. That's just not great, seriously. I have always had good experiences with Marriott; even at the more affordable Courtyard properties overseas. This Westin seems to be the pricier category 5 property and it's a total let down. I could have stayed at the Four Seasons at this price range. I will have to try a different Marriott next time in BJ :( On the bright side, however, it's next to a mall-like place so you can grab coffee and food conveniently. Also, the Liangmaqiao station is right outside of the hotel, so it's pretty convenient. This is one of the main reasons why I booked this hotel, and plus it's a Cat 5 Marriott property.

I stayed one night using Marriott points 30k, was well greeted and bumped to a large corner room and a gift fruit plate as I’m a platinum elite member of Marriott. Used the club lounge for happy hour and dinner, variety of food and drinks with great view of Beijing CBD. Gym is well equipped and spacious. The TV has all latest movies for free. Overall very enjoyable stay.

I stay at the the hotel regularly. I left a bag there a few months ago and when I tried to collect it, they cannot locate it. The deputy manager Li Xiang contacted me and was throughly apologetic; when they still can’t find it, he consistently followed up proactively and offered gestures of apology including room upgrades, etc. One night when I was checking in and Mr. Li greeted me with a pleasant surprise that they found my bag which had been misplaced due to a fluke accident. I appreciated their customer focus, service attitude and dedication, very commendable! My only suggestion for improvement for the hotel is to invest in good quality humidifiers and air purifiers that are befitting to the class of the hotel!
