This hotel is very close to the airport - and since it is close to the Airport Expressway, it gives you quick access to get around - whether you rent a car or use taxis. We wouldn't dare to rent a car - driving in Beijing is definetly out of my element. This is my second time in Beijing, and i would highly reccomend this hotel. The rooms were quite small - but sufficed our needs. Very comfortable bedding and pillows. You even have the option of choose to sleep on soft or firm pillows (specified with ribbons and tag in the room).
Complimentary breakfast was nice as well. A little variation here and other.
Complimentary wi-fi was also included in each room - plus if you do not have your own laptop/computer. The hotel has 4 computers that you may use (2 in the lobby and 2 in the dining room on the 5th floor).
The price for this hotel and its amenities were a great value!

Overall, i was very satisfied with this hotel, and would stay here again!

The hotel is close to the airport - a 20 minute taxi ride. I agree with another reviewer, taxi drivers do not know where it is - even though I had the name of the hotel and address in Chinese.

The hotel is not too far from the sites if you take public transport, and even using taxis is not that expensive. See my tips.

The room was a good size with a firm bed, crisp linen, great pillows and a good bathroom. The shower floor was a little mouldy in places and a tile was cracked but the shower-rose was the largest I have ever seen and, coming from a country where water restrictions have been in place for quite a while, I felt somewhat guilty at the amount of water emitted from the shower. However, I soon succumbed to the decadence of long luxuriant hot showers!

The room has a flat-panel TV, bar fridge and clock-radio with an iPod dock.

The hotel is above Focus Mall - an upmarket shopping mall and across the road from a shopping plaza - Stellar International Cineplex - which has approx 20 restaurants, a liquor store and a Department Store which has a Supermarket on the ground floor.

The hotel staff are efficent, although they cannot speak English very well, so getting directions anywhere can be difficult but not impossible.

The breakfast was fine - usual Asian style and also some concession to Western tastes. Coffee is extaordinarily expensive everywhere in China, so use the little automatic coffee machine in the restaurant for your caffiene blast for the day....it doesn't taste too bad.

The hotel has 2 PCs in the lobby which allow free internet access however they are often occupied. In the restaurant on the 5th floor where breakfast is held, there is another 2 PCs, not often used....so just go there.

Overall, I would recommend this Hotel as I was pleased with the cleanliness and general location.

TIPS: If you want to get to Tian anmen Square and the Forbidden City using public transport, it will take approx an hour but only cost 6 yuan round trip! Ask at the Front Desk - their tour co-ordinator will provide a map of the city and give you directions. It involves one bus ride and two train changes. Worth the experience.

If you want to go to the Summer Palace - and you should not miss this fantastic place - catch a taxi. It will only cost 50-60 yuan each way and is well worth the money when you see just how far the journey is. It is approx a 25 minute ride. It is usefull to have the various attractions you wish to visit written in Chinese so that you can simply show the text to some unsuspecting local and get directions if you are lost. Also useful for the taxi drivers. Remember, almost NO ONE speaks any English.

I booked a Great Wall tour through the hotel because I couldn't be bothered booking on the net - however, you can save approx 150 yuan by booking on the net. Go to the Mutianyu section - it is a longer trip there but absolutely spectacular. The hotel arranged tour spent only 2 hours at the Wall - not nearly enough time. If you can afford it, hire a car for a day....approx 600 yuan.

The Supermarket in the Stellar complex has everything you need and also has a small pharmacy. It also sells cold beer at 1.5 yuan and different wines.

Unlike most of other hotels in Beijing with sky-rocking prices during Summer Olympics, Holiday Inn Express Wangjing offered very reasonable price during summer 2008.

The hotel was brand new and just opened in early August. The front desk seemed not familar with the checkin procedure and was very slow and made some mistakes with our reservation, but we ended up with a very nice room on the 17th floor - new, modern, and big (rooms with ending with "10" are the bigger ones). Free internet in room and public areas. Free and tasty breakfast. Excellent service from housekeeping and restaurant staff.

Since the hotel is new, most of the taxi drivers don't know where it is. It is located next to Hua Tang Shopping center (with many restaurants). Taxi to Olympic stadiums cost about 20-25 CNY.

I stayed at this hotel for one nite just becoz of the location is about 15 mins by cab to airport. There is no fridge in the room and I had to request and waited for over an hour for them to deliver. Carpet is so dirty and you dont feel like stepping on it with your barefoot. The room that I stayed on 17/f is full of sewage smell. Gym is 24 hours but when I went down at 530am there is no switch so I had to run on the treadmill in pitch dark environment. Upon check out, I asked the hotel to email the hotel bill to my account and it has been a month now and I still didnt receive. This is like a self service hotel.

This must be one of the worst Holiday Inns on this planet. Rooms are so small you wonder why you could have paid half the price for a comparable room at a Home Inn. Service is poor and everyone who accompanies you to your room must show ID and allow ID to be photocopied. Several guests came and visit and were rudely stopped by the front desk. However, other non-Chinese looking guests or visitors were ignored and let in without questioning. Canceled booking that same evening and went to a different hotel instead..

I was staying in this hotel for 2 nights on business trip last week. Typical Holiday Inn Express - basic business 3* hotel for overnight stay or stopover. Nothing special about this hotel, just a few practical comments:

Good: Efficient english-speaking staff: quick check-in & check-out, quick response on any query; Rooms are clean; Convinient location: just a 15 minutes from Beijing Capital on taxi, also - Hotel is adjacent to Focus Mall with supermarket, 7/11 shop, cafes/restaurants and bars; Free breakfast and Wi-Fi.

Bad: Rooms are small, almost all rooms are Smoking (normal for China), thin walls and windows - a lot of noise are coming from the street, and from corridor and neighbours, very basic breakfast. Far from subway, you have to use a taxi.

After I checked in, noticed I booked wrong Holiday Inn Express, but due to the event which was held in Beijing couldn’t find another hotel.

This Holiday Inn Express was not the one I have known, can say this hotel changed my image to the brand 100% very negatively.

Starting from Entrance, there was very less clean feeling (luckily bed & towel was fine though), molds at shower booth, dirty sink, after changed a room then smelling like bad odor from the plastic wall & better but still no-maintained shower booth.
Breakfast was not typical Holiday Inn Express, mainly Chinese, bit of western.
No Holiday Inn Express amenities.

A few good side, right after sending a comment, night manager came to check & changed a room so 1 ⭐️ for IHG Service & very prompt action on-site, 1⭐️ for bed & towel.

I will avoid holiday inn / Holiday Inn Express in Beijing next time.

I was initially disappointed at this hotel in general: There are only 2 elevators, so they get very crowded during breakfast hours, the room condition is bad with wet carpets in the hallway, and most importantly the wifi is SLOOOW, and it is not even useable, I had to use my mobile hotspot for the duration of the stay because the wifi simply just doesn't work.

However, I have to say that the staffs are friendly, helpful and very professional.

The location of the hotel is good, but not that ideal: it's about 10 minutes to the closet subway station but you have to be able to navigate through many alleyways (it took me 30 minutes to go there the first time). Also, Wangjing Soho is within 15 minutes walk and there are many dining options there.

Overall I would say this is a motel using holiday inn express brand, don't expect anything other than bed breakfast and shower. Also be aware of the price and hidden fees, I booked though IHG website for ~450 yuan, and when I checked in the price jumped to over 550, so be aware of this over 100 yuan per night hidden fees.

It was my first trip to Beijing, and booked this hotel through my local liaison. The hotel is good, the staff is courteous and efficient. The restaurant is relatively small for the size of the hotel, but was good. The one key problem I experienced was that, for a business hotel that hosts a considerable number of foreign travelers, the staff speak very little English. It took me 5 minutes to make the waiter in the restaurant realize what "vegetarian" means !! I had an early morning flight, and the Front Desk was quite efficient in arranging a cab, and provided written instructions in Mandarin to show the cab driver.

I use IHG hotels whenever possible because they offer some of the best value for money hotels that meet a business travellers needs. I'm an ambassador level so I stay in quite a few but guys, this one doesn't deserve your brand.

There are boxes of 'stuff' in plain view around the reception bench making the place look unprofessional. The lobby is full of half sleeping smokers - not sure if they are even guests, some look like drivers, so when the desk is busy there is no place to sit.

Reception needs to understand customers. A little empathy goes a long way in hospitality especially when you have an international brand. I asked for the receptionist to write the silk market onto a card so I could give to a taxi. Tried to send me to a local supermarket. I'm sorry I called silk street the silk market.......but in a hotel where you also have to be the concierge, you should be open to understanding other names for major local attractions.

I was hopeful with the breakfast because the cafe has a great decor. But the food lets it down. Took 3 attempts to get the cook to understand 'scrambled eggs'. Then when he did cook them, they were rubber and over cooked. Tried to go for one dinner but after being told what wasn't available on the already limited menu I ended up going to McD's.

The rooms are SMALL. The bathrooms are tiny and as others have mentioned the showers have a good growth of mould around the base. No soap or shampoos but a dispenser with multi use detergent in the shower and beside the basin. The wall paper was falling off in quite a few places and rips touched up with paint. Unless you like sport, there are a total of 2 English channels. CNN and HBO. Most surprising there was no mini bar or fridge to put your drinks in. Even the so called non smoking rooms stink of smoke. The do not disturb signs do not work. Cleaners ignore them.

I checked in and corrected them at that time that I was there for 4 nights not 3. I have my email stating actual dates but they somehow believe their system is more accurate than my booking email that they have acknowledged. I went to lengths to confirm the day and date that I was checking out because I could tell the receptionist wasn't listening. The "yes yes, I know" should have been a warning sign. I get back to the room on the 3rd night and the key has stopped working. Down to reception and told in front of a full reception area that I have used up all of my deposit. Immediately gets me offside, only rooms have been charged, when I am told I have to top up my credit before they will reprogram my key. I don't appreciate this type of business practice at a Holiday Inn. Then I was told they expected me to be leaving that morning and they were going to charge me an additional night. Well yes, isn't that what I wanted and booked through my company?? All of this time it was MY fault that they didn't take enough deposit nor listened at check in.

After this episode I went upstairs, packed and moved to the REAL Holiday Inn for not that much more. The difference in staff attitude was like night and day. Trying to get a taxi is hopeless, you have to hail one yourself off the street. No one there to help get one.

I don't recommend this place to any international traveller who expects to be treated as a guest. Other Holiday Inns, even expresses, in Beijing can do it so it is purely down to poor training and local management not keeping on top of house keeping and maintenance.
