Hotel Management please take action against your dishonest employee at the Concierge Dest (on Sept 5 night)!! To be fair to some of your other employees, like the check in staff we encountered on Sept 1st at the Front Desk were helpful. This dishonest employee by the name of Sky Yang was at the Concierge desk on 5th Sept 2023 (around 8pm+) . I went to the Concierge counter to get help to call a teksi to the airport and since he was in uniform and had a name tag, I had no reason to suspect that as an employee of a reputable hotel, he would turn out that he would be up to tricks and dishonest and to rip off tourist. I asked him to book a teksi for us to pick us at 9.15pm to take us to the airport. He said that he would and asked how we would pay for the teksi. I told him we will pay by cash as we did not have the China e-wallet app. Because I did not have the Alipay e wallet, he said he could help by using his app and I was to pay him cash. So kind of this guy to be so helpful?! NO! NOT AT ALL!!! This was his golden opportunity to cheat. I expected that the fare would be around RMB150-200 as we had earlier in the day asked a different staff and were informed that costs of a teksi to the airport would in that range. To my surprise, when we were in the lobby and getting ready with our bags at around 9pm, and asked him how much we need to pay for the teksi, he said RMB300...to which I replied that it cannot be that expensive as earlier on we were informed that it was not more than RMB200. He came up with lies that toll charges is expensive (i noted when we passed one toll, it was only Rmb11) and he said because it was night time, costs is higher etc etc - all lies. I asked to see the app in which he placed the booking...and here is what this dishonest fella did; he showed me a screen for teksi charges ranging from Rmb200 - Rmb300...and as I could not read Chinese; i had no way to verify or challenge him that those charges was for teksi costs from Xinqiao Hotel to the Airport, and I could only continue to protest that it was much higher than what was informed to us earlier. I asked that he please check the price again. He insisted that that RMB300 was the price and that if we did not want the teksi, he would cancel it. Bear in mind that at this time it was already 9+pm and we needed to get to the airport. He kept up his pressure and threat by saying again that he would cancel. All this happening while we were in a hurry to get to the airport. When we were about to board the teksi, I tried again to expose his lying and asked him to show me the receipt of his e-wallet payment, and Sky Yang (dishonest concierge staff of Beijing Novotel) said that only after journey completed will he get the receipt. At this juncture, I knew that there was no way to expose his dishonesty. So we paid him and boarded the teksi. I still had not given up on exposing this dishonest guy, so when we arrive at our destination, the Daxing Int' Airport, I asked the driver to show me his phone app for the charges and the driver did. His app showed charges of only Rmb154.58. This dishonest staff of Beijing Xinqiao Hotel Sky Yang ripped us off an additional RMB145.42; pocketing it for himself!! Are the staff in Beijing Xinqiao so poorly paid that they take every opportunity to cheat and rip off tourists so that some they can pocket som extra money?? Unfortunately Beijing Xinqiao, you have a dishonest concierge staff by the name of Sky Yang! and this is a real put off to ever patronizing Beijing Xinqiao Hotel again. I hope he was not using someone else's name tag. Description of this guy - he wears specs, slim built and is about 5' 6 or so, not that tall. Xingqiao Management, please get the right guy and take action against him. Tourist - beware of this dishonest employee by the name of Sky Yang when you stay at Beijing Xingqiao. In some countries, hotels are more pro-active to prevent this kind of abuse by dishonest employees by displaying fare prices to common destination like airports. Please do something like this to prevent dishonest employees to rip off unsuspecting tourists. While this hotel location is quite good as it is a few steps away from the subway train station, besides the dishonest employee experience, there are also some facilities which needs improvement; on our last day stay in a room in the older block, the bath tub water drainage was poor, hot water goes off intermittently, the furniture was old, so old that the fridge cupboard door which was rotting was taped up!

We found this to be a good place to stay for our 4 nights in Beijing. + Convenient for the metro and in the forbidden city area of Beijing. Room was big and comfortable with everything that we needed including fridge, kettle, fresh water, effective air con etc. Helpful staff, including getting us a taxi to the airport early morning. Buffet breakfast was great, plenty of food and lots of choice. Set us up well for a day of sightseeing! - Some stains on the carpet in our room (but it seemed clean). Overall, we were very happy with our choice and would stay here again.

The facility is pretty old, toaster is out of oder but they did not want to replace a new one. I have been staying in Accord hotels, and be the diamond member for a while, but they are mean to upgrade me to en-suite even though there are so many customer staying in their hotel. One more thing I am very surprised that the gym is close down too….

We arrived very late past midnight at the Novotel Beijing Xin Qiao. We booked TWO rooms of twin beds. The two FO staff where trainees and we were allocated a king size bed for the three of us and both rooms. After much conversation at 12.30am the staff told us our friend had a King size room and they had NO twin bed rooms. I then asked for the manager, Ms Amy Xu to Mr David Wu who laughed at me when I repeated it to him a few times. Meanwhile, the other FO staff Ms Michelle Dai checked through every page of my passport four times. I asked her what she wanted to know and my wife told me she was looking for the last entry date into China which I helped her with. When the manager finally arrived, Ms Amy Xu said she gave us a room in the B wing which was NOT the 'interconnecting rooms' we asked for in email requests earlier to that hotel. After deliberation we requested an extra bed and past 1am we retired to the room after we unpacked we discovered there was NO DOOR to the bathroom!!!! We then went to go back to the front desk and Ms Xu gave us a room on the 11th floor with two beds and they added an extra bed which was booked in Wing A on the 11th floor. This was 2am. They should have done this in the first place. The problems dont end there, on Monday and Wednesday for the breakfasts for three adults we paid for the staff stopped us and queried this. I had to show the receipt we had to get in. On the final day Thursday, we did get a sympathetic staff manager, Felix who gave us a late check out but I have to say, it should not take two hours to check into the correct room. regards SLL

Check in was smooth; however, service was not that efficient, business centre was close before 13:00. The room old, poor maintenance, toilet flushing had problems as well as shower, and the safe box was out of battery. Breakfast buffet was not delicious and seemed to be prepared a day ahead, too greasy and pastry had the poorest taste, if you don’t eat pork, be prepared to eat one or two types of not fresh vegetables because there won’t be anything that contains beef or chicken other than chicken sausages.

Due to COVID-19 the hotel has had to make various adjustments, i e closing off the 12th floor. I hope this will soon be re opened as some of the benefits were missed. also some smaller changes were made which, while not inconvenient did detract from the usual standard I have come to expect from the Hotel. I hope that when the virus is over the hotel will go back to its former standards of excellence and not 'spoil the ship for a ha'porth of tar (English expression) Special thanks tp Deng Shu Fen of house keeping ,who was as efficient as she was unobtrusive, for maintaining my bathroom and room in first class condition.

There is mixture of smokimg smell and dead rat smell inside the toilet. According to my knowledge, there is not possible to smoke inside the room. It seems the management of NOVOTEL Beijing does not strictly apply this rule. Also the dead rat smell scares me because NOVOTEL is good brand in the world. But not in Beijing 😢

it is convenient to go to every corner of the city by metro. you can enjoy delicious peking duck in their chinese restaurant on 4th floor. staff are friendly and responsive. However, it is not adviced to live in the lower floors as there is strong baking smell from a bakery shop at the ground floor.

I am an Accor member and booked on accor website for the 7 night stay from Dec 2019 to Jan 2020 for my family of 3 with 2 rooms. My room request wasn't met as we were separated in different buildings. Quiet room wasn't given on the first go until I asked for a change. Safety boxes weren't working until we asked them to fix which took a long time. The rooms given werent exactly quiet we were awoken by a wedding party at 6am next door. They just didn't care about their guests. Accor still hasn't registered our stay so I asked for a receipt from the hotel showing my stay so I can email to the Accor team to fix the missing points. The hotel failed to provide correct information in the receipt for such simple things. I am not sure why they decided to attention it to my sister when my name was in use in all hotel confirmation emails and their records. Perhaps to avoid giving customers the rewards points?? Lack of response from the Accor loyalty team is also a concern. The recent negative experience with the Beijing hotel and Accor group so far is changing my desire to continue using them and switch to another hotel group. Appalling quality.
