Hotel village cinsisting of an important number of pavillions designed by 12 different Chinese architects. Good architecture but lousy building finishes. Water infiltration through the walls, poor power sockets, dangerous sharp concrete edges in bathroom, loose water taps etc. An empty fridge, tea making facilities...More
After the heat of the city it was lovely to spend an afternoon out hear in the peaceful countryside. I have mixed views on this hotel.
+ Interesting landscape and architecture of the buildings
+ Our 2 bed was spacious and comfortable
Stayed in Cantilever House 4. The actual rooms were like any standard four star hotel. However, there's not much going on in the hotel. Customer service is lacking. The only real selling point for this hotel is the unique architecture of its "houses" and private...More
Our tour group enjoyed a lavish multi-course Chinese lunch here after our walk on the Great Wall. This is a famous stopover for VIP visitors. The lobby of the hotel is taken over by an extensive shopping area. Be sure to bargain.
The biggest highlight of the hotel is it's location and surroundings. Very green and peaceful environment outside the city and with access to a private part of the wall which has no tourists. You can do a short hike through the woods to get there....More

the walk is approximately 20 minutes. It's a bit steep but quite ok, you can do it at your own pace. I have a bad back and asthma problems so I did it in maybe 1/2 hour. My teenagers ran all the way up in no time. And the view at the top is worth every step if the weather is clear. Bring water bottle and you should be ok. Really that's the hotel selling point so if you stay there, you really have to take the walk ;-)
