I am genuinely shocked at the bad reviews. We had an absolutely marvellous stay at the hotel. The room was clean, well stocked with little luxuries. The pool was marvellous with complimentary towels and slippers already in each locker. The aircon was set at 24° and would reset when you leave the room and take your card, but was quick to cool when coming back and being turned down. All of the staff were extremely helpful, in arranging an appointment at Tiananmen and a taxi to the airport. Clean, quiet, a real home away from home. Wonderful hotel

This is my second stay at this hotel within the last two months. It has a reasonably good location (I feel Beijing is such a big city, it is hard to say anywhere is a good location though) and a good price. Although the famous Wangfujing eating street was closed for renovation on both occasions which was annoying.
The reception staff are helpful and the concierge organised us a private van to take us to and from the Great Wall for 800RMB. The driver Yang was really nice.
The lobby looks lovely, but the room is quite outdated and the restaurant is in a really weird feature of the hotel making it feel very cold and empty.
The breakfast was pretty good but I wouldn't pay the 'on the day rate' for it, but good if its included. Otherwise just go to Wagas or McDonalds less than 5 mins away for breakfast at a fraction of the price.
The bedrooms are what look the most dated. The room is pretty dark and the aircon is very hard to work leaving us boiling most of the time!
The bathroom is nice with a good bath and separate shower.
We also got room service one night which was really tasty.
I would probably stay here again for the fact I am now familiar with the location and it's usually a good price but it isn't anything special really.

Fabulous hotel moreover it is simple, I miss it very much! Location is already ideal with a metro station already nearby (Wangfujing) and I would say 15-20 minutes walk from the Forbidden City compound. For the hotel itself, it is clean and really classy. The staff is always attentive, the concierge for example is really great because he orders us the taxi, keeps our things, always attentive to help. Location is fantastic. Served by 2 subway lines and going places was easy. Ditched Didi as traffic was bad and subway travel was cheap (RMB 3/Pax) to major attractions (Lama temple, Nanguluo xiang, Temple of Heaven). Please get hotel map from concierge and good for moving around. Wafujing was behind hotel. The famous duck restaurant Quanjude was within walking distance. Absolutely a joy to move around! From mid Oct onwards, no central conditioning and relied on open window for natural air. We found the room stuffy and we had portable fan (check in 1-3 Nov). Room was newly renovated, bright and clean. Hotel breakfast (2nd floor) was OK and food choice and quality was average, just to fill stomach. Elevator access card and room access card, 2 sets. Diamond tier. Trip member., enjoyed late check out 2pm. Simply best location to stay in Beijing!

My family and I stayed at the Sunworld Dynasty back in September 2019. This hotel was booked and recommend by our travel agent in Australia. It claims to be a 5-star hotel however I think that might be out of date. The hotel itself is clean but does seem a little old and dated. The breakfast buffet was probably the highlight. The beds are comfortable but there is not enough light in the rooms and there was mould in the bathrooms. There are hardly any English speaking concierge or reception staff which can make it difficult to communicate. Not sure I’d stay here again.
