Minimal English at reception, so be prepared to spend a bit of time explaining things when checking in if you don't speak Mandarin Chinese. No breakfast if booked room by Expedia. Old TV. Old school pink toilet and tub. 5 min walk to the Metro. 1 hour plus to go to Forbidden Palace (not recommended as it was too crowded)....

The stay at this hotel was relatively pleasant. It is only rated at 3 stars so we didn't expect much. However, they hold conferences for people from all over the world so we expected that the staff would be able to speak relatively good English. Not so. If you plan on staying make sure you carry a translator at all...

Was clean and good. Location not near city centre but has supermarket nearby and breakfast fast food places. Near to subway. Quiet. Nearest veg should be at zhongguanchun station. View was ok. Near To shopping centre selling branded clothes. If you walk out to the supermarket there is subway and macdonalds.

If you are visiting Renmin University, this is the place to stay - just opposite the main entrance. The University underground station is also only a short walk away, with easy connections across the city. The hotel itself is average. My room (one of the modernised ones) was of an ok size but nothing special. Quiet. Other reviewers have complained...

It says it is 4 star hotel but there are actually two buildings and one of them is 3 star. I think it is over priced for 3 star apartment style. I paid 45 USD per night and the accommodation is not very good. A bit smell and bathroom and shower are together and quite sketchy. Closet and doors are...

Initially we were booked for the Yanshan serviced apartments next door, but after visiting the flat we didn't like it especially tyne bathroom which was too tint and cramped so we shifted to an executive suite in the main hotel building for our three week stay. Having a good experience , we stayed again on a subsequent trip for another...

When you get a hotel room in Asia, you have to accept certain differences in cultural expectation. What is normal in some countries is can not be expected in others. Having said this, the hotel room at the Yanshan Hotel in Beijing isn't bad for a $45 room, but it will definitely not delight the typical Western guest...especially, if they...

I had a comfortable stay at the Yanshan Hotel. It was well located for my needs (close to the metro). The rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet, although slightly outdated and not really luxurious. There was a wide variety for breakfast. Not all staff speak English very well.

If you need to be close to the Renmin University, this hotel is a decent choice. The PROs: Staff was friendly, spoke English (contrary to some other comments on TripAdvisor) and made an effort to get a room ready despite my very early arrival. A very short walk to the metro station; taxis available in front of the hotel and...

QUALITY: Don't believe for a moment it's a 4 star. It's 2 to 3 star maximum by Western standards. There's a huge difference between the grotty side building (rooms around £30 and it shows) and the main building (executive rooms around £60). The reception is tacky, dated and stinks of cigarettes. ROOMS: the executive rooms are clean and comfortable enough....
