Whenever I travel I make it a point to stay at Ritz-Carlton because of the legacy of achieving the utmost heights of hospitality.

Staff: If there's one single role model of exquisite service among all the fine hotels, Ritz calls for it. The staff was elegant and attentive while remaining human. The Ritz Beijing's Team is doing an impeccable job that makes their ladies and gentlemen slogan splendid. A special Thank You to Amy who offered a ~20 mins private tour around the hotel lobby, revealing the stories and spirits behind all those spectacular designs. Her passion and effort toward achieving uncompromised guest satisfaction truly delivered a deep impression.

Design: Absolutely stunning interior design with a strong connection and sense of place. After staying in many Ritz Carltons around the world, this property truly brings me back to those Ritzs in Washington DC when I was still in college, as it exuded everything I imagined about American design fused with Beijing culture, with clean lines, open spaces and glass exposure.

Suites: I stayed in cozy Carlton suite. I was inspired by the huge bathroom, comfortable beds, and beautiful design elements like traditional tea station and bookshelf. You might find yourself looking for excuses to stay inside.

Among all those Marriott Properties around Beijing, although Ritz is not the fanciest place, it will be my first choice next time I'm back, and I solely recommend it to all those with a good taste

Beautiful hotel, but a bit dated and musty smelling. Service is Ritz-Carlton level high and love lounge... very delicious food and service. As titanium members, we were not offered complementary club lounge access so our food ended up being quite expensive. I only point this out because right next-door is the JW Marriott which also has a club lounge which is complementary to platinum and titanium members and has the exact same food offerings, as I went over there to check it out myself. I don’t think there was enough of a difference to warrant the added high cost of the lounge to stay at the Ritz Carlton Beijing. Next time we will stay at the JW Marriott, with the complementary food offering which is very important to us. Food was delicious. It was a short walk to the subway system and we took advantage of public transportation for all of our sightseeing in Beijing it was kind of a fun challenge to get around but it is very doable with a bit of planning and will save you tons of money on tours or cab rides. Be sure to visit the great wall and ride back down the cart slide...super fun for all ages. See the Beijing zoo with the white tigers and Pandas. We were a family of four with two teenagers and had a room with two double beds that worked perfect for us. Over all enjoyed our stay!!!

With the beginning of 2022. We hanged out together in Ritz Carlton for the Afternoon Tea Time at the Lounge. The service is great from the beginning. From the gate of bellman opening the door with his sincere smile inside the masks. I can feel his working attitude.
Especially I would like to point out the employee in the Lounge Summer Huang. Her service is so great. She can sense the detail refilling the water when empty. Thanks for your service!!!!!
Thank you

We stayed at the Ritz Carlton beijing on New Year’s Eve. Being a long time Marriot Bonvoy Elite member I expected to be accorded with the service level expected at all other 5 star hotels around the world. I was horrified at the poor service at the front desk. They had a “couldn’t care less” attitude both at check in and at check out. Did not bother to crack a smile and appeared as if they couldn’t wait to get rid of me. Room was so so.. tho the bed was comfortable as what you would expect from the Ritz standard. Room was somewhat clean. Nothing to really rave / fault. We booked the Club level room which included breakfast (appalling), lunch, tea and dinner. New Year’s Eve dinner buffet was served at the main dining room. Every dish was mediocre, quality was poor and taste was nothing to rave about. If you are just needing to fill your tummy then I would probably recommend the cocktail prawns cos everything else was really bad! Ice cream was self serve and rather unhygienic given guests were just using their own spoons to scoop the ice cream and no one stopped them. (Esp during covid). I inquired with the chef what type of cake he was serving and he was none the wiser. He just said “it’s cake”... this blasé attitude seems to run through the whole hotel. Lunch and breakfast are just as bad. Hot Tea was served cold, selection was very limited and i literally spat out my bacon at breakfast cos it was hard and inedible! Really amazed how the F&B team can get away with serving such mediocre bad tasting food at a Ritz Carlton! If I had to pay for a buffet meal I would demand my money back.

I went for a swim at the indoor pool and got shouted at by the lifeguard for not wearing a swim cap. He could have told me nicely rather than shouting at me across the pool making me feel like a criminal.

The only saving grace for this hotel is the amazing excellent service of Katherine at the Club Lounge. She was so patient with my questions, always smiling and making me feel at home. She prepared me a wonderful afternoon tea set with hot tea and invited me for drinks after dinner at the lounge. She alone made my stay tolerable and memorable. Thank you Katherine for being such a pleasure to chat with.

We were only at the hotel for a one night stay as it was a connection city for us but by the service you would have thought we were staying for a month. The gentleman at the front desk was very engaging and was amazed that we have been married for 25 years. Had room service for dinner. Food and service were excellent. We checked out at 6:15 am the following morning and were given "gifts" by the front desk team with a lovely hand written note and drawing showing a couple with hearts and 25(signifying 25 years of marriage). The gift include a to go breakfast(breakfast not included in room rate), chopsticks, box of cookies, etc. We were so touched. We felt totally pampered and special. Oh,and they upgraded our room. Imagine how awesome it would have been to stay longer. Can't wait to go back for a longer stay.

During my family’s staycation in Beijing’s Ritz Carlton Club Level, the level of service my husband and I experienced was simply one of the bests in our hotel experiences. The club’s agent Avery Wang with her team Niki and Alan delivered an unforgettable experience for my children. Not only was she sensitive to our family’s needs by making sure we were taken care of but she went out of her way to make sure all the details were covered. She smiled and was truly an exemplary ambassador for the Ritz Carlton. Through our conversation, she found out my little one was turning one and helped arranged a surprise mini celebration. That truly touched my heart. We had spent baby’s first Christmas at the Ritz last December so it just seemed memorable to have his birthday here too! The hotel has become more than just a hotel to us.

The room was clean, tidy and well stocked. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom and amenities were truly top notch. I truly recommend this stay for couples, families and even single travelers. The level of hospitality was memorable and we felt welcomed and could truly unwind and relax. As we are unable to travel too far at the moment, knowing we could go anytime to experience such a great stay was priceless. The club lounge was comfortable, well equipped and had all we needed to be comfortable without leaving the hotel. The team was always masked to ensure the safest of environments in light of the pandemic.

Thank you to the team and to Avery for her leadership. I am looking forward to spending more time here whether to mark important milestones or just for a night out. We have already booked our next stay because of her.

As a Marriot Bonvoy member, this memory truly made me a fan and solidified our brand loyalty.

Having been wanting to compare this to is neighbour and sister hotel (JW Marriott) for a while. The Ritz Carlton is a little more money but it is worth paying. The hotel is intimate and a more classic design.
Rooms are nicely decorated although they tend to cater for more high-end business travellers rather than luxury travellers. They are a good size.
Service was friendly and made me feel comfortable and at home.

As always, it is a pleasure to stay at my favorite Hotel Brand: Ritz Carlton. The Ritz in Beijing did not disappoint and excelled in every way possible!

There was a small issue in the check in process, however this was quickly rectified.

I was pleasantly upgraded to a beautiful suite and absolutely loved the traditional, timeless decor.

Special thanks to the Ladies & Gentlemen at the Executive Club lounge with particular mention to Katherine whereby she would go out of her way to assist and ensure the stay was comfortable.

I look forward to staying again soon and 100% recommend this hotel for anyone looking for an enjoyable stay with a terrific location.

I had a reservation at the Ritz Carlton, Beijing for two nights, this has been my go to property in Beijing for many years, it's quite nice, relatively boutique service level is generally good, at least by Chinese standards.

Checked in on Tuesday afternoon, arriving at reception, I was told that my rate did not include breakfast. I told them I was a Marriott Bonvoy ambassador, and they said they could not see that in their system. Anyway, the rate did not include breakfast and they wanted to upsell me on a breakfast rate for the accommodation. I've probably stayed over 40 nights at this hotel over the past couple of years, remember that's during Covid when hotel occupancy in China was less than 10%.

Anyway, I said no thank you, and then they very quickly decided to offer me a free upgrade and free breakfast, a little bit typical Chinese style.

I went to the JW Marriott next-door.

Please note that this hotel does not honor or respect your Bonvoy elite membership and so you should choose another property.

Good luck in navigating the extremely high-level customer service to be found at Beijing hotel properties.

The experience at Ritz Carlton Beijing has been quite unpleasant. For starters, the place is worn down, and the room that I stayed in had an unpleasant odor smell. The walls are thin and the service level in terms of efficiency has a need for improvement. It is not worth the money you are spending per night.

does this hotel have a bar that allows smoking?
Answer from Graceroars
New York City, New York36 contributions59 helpful votes
Sorry I just saw this! There is a little bar area that’s out doors (not the JW one as some other traveler had pointed out, which there is). The RC one is a more concealed, intimate space that’s right outside of the bar proper. So between this and the JW Beer Garden, you’ve got some nice options.

I would recommend using Google maps and it will guide your path. Start it on your phone while you have wifi and the GPS will show you the way even without data. Wish I could post a screenshot or leave a link; however, it is not possible on TripAdvisor. Good luck and enjoy your stay!

There is a large spa, the hotel concierge can provide a menu if it is not online. Depending on traffic, the hotel is 45-90 mins from PEK.
