The heat of midsummer is over and there are many conventions, so hotel prices are high in Hong Kong in October. I looked for a hotel near the station and found it quite expensive, but I compromised and chose this hotel, which is a little far from Mong Kok Station, because it was better than a damp and dark hotel. The reason is that the guidebook said that the K5 hotel shuttle bus stops at this hotel when you get off at Kowloon Station from the airport. However, when I asked at Kowloon Station, I found out that this shuttle bus had been discontinued four years ago. I checked in with a low spirit, but in the end it was the best stay. The bathroom was small but compact. It was so comfortable that I forgot there was no bathtub. The hot shower had good force, and it made me feel that a rain shower was so good. It was certainly small, but the shower booth was one step down, so it was the first time I'd been able to take a shower without worrying about hot water splashing out. The shampoo, conditioner, and body soap were also good. The toilet was right in front of me, but it felt convenient. It was so comfortable that I wanted to take a shower many times after coming back from the heat outside. The whole room was bright and clean. You can watch YouTube and Netflix on the TV. The space by the window is just right for putting your suitcase, and you can prepare various things on the table, so it's well designed. My family and I stayed at the Dorsett Mongkok for roughly 14 nights. The staff was polite, accommodating and friendly. Whilst the room was small it was expected at the price and typical of Hong Kong. The breakfast buffet was complimentary and we dined there at the start of the trip, unfortunately the selection is quite limited and rotations seems to change every other day. However for something that is included as part of the booking directly with the hotel I feel it's to be expected.
The cleaning staff was quick and efficient, by flipping a switch to request our room to be cleaned it usually gets done by the time we return in the afternoon. We took advantage of the downstairs self-service laundry which costs roughly $80 HKD per a load (wash+drying). They only have two sets of washer and dryer but it has a sms notification capability which I found convenient.
The hotel had a shuttle bus every hour which we took at times, it was at walkable distance to Mongkok (15-20 minutes) and to Olympic MTR which if you explore a bit you could go through the shopping centers and reach the MTR quite easily while escaping from the elements.
Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Having visited the Dorsett in Mongkok in October 2019 just before covid, and having an amazing stay, I was looking forward to returning. Unfortunately, much has changed. The room was not as pristine as in 2019. The carpet was stained and the skirtings and sealant around the shower and basin were dirty. The tiles and grout looked dirty and the paint on the walls looked yellow and dated. My room needed a good steam clean and a lick of paint to get it back to what I remembered in 2019. There were little treats that were given to customers in 2019 that are no longer offered. The breakfast was the greatest disappointment for me. The choice for breakfast in 2019 was beyond words. I was disappointed when I saw the same choice each day - scramble eggs or boiled eggs, white bread, croissants and chicken sausage or ham. Not very appetising.
I know the hotel is just getting back on its feet after covid but I don't think it warrants its rating and the price it charges for rooms anymore. I don't think I will be using the Dorsett in future and that is sad because its location is very good to the mtr and markets and the staff were helpful. If the Dorsett can redecorate their rooms and give them a thorough clean and give a little more choice for breakfast, (not necessarily back to the amazing selection they had before because I know this may not be not possible anymore), then I would reconsider staying there again.

The hotel is attractive and clean and they have a free shuttle for guests and even a short free drive-by tour. It even had a coin operated washer/dryer in a lounge room with tables, chairs and a TV.
The staff was ok. When we asked about a nearby restaurant he told us about a nearby place. We told him it required a reservation and we were already turned away. He just shrugged. The big problem was the room and bathroom size. No place to open a suitcase except on the bed which was pushed against the wall due to room size. I had to crawl from the foot end to get in. The bathroom only accommodates one person at a time. It was really tiny. We have never stayed in a smaller room with a smaller bathroom and we travel a lot. We assumed all rooms were that small but before we left someone stepped out of a room that was normal sized.
The location is good. There's a McDonalds across the street as well as a small grocery store and several small restaurants. I'm not a big fan of McDonalds but has a separate section with a coffee bar that makes excellent coffee drinks like cappuccino, etc. A 7-11 is less than a block away.

Great hotel, located in Mongkok, location is close to the shops yet remote enough to avoid the crowds of busy hongkong. From the moment you arrive your comfort is their priority, doors opening at arrival, suitcases handled from the taxi, front desk staff welcome you with a smile,… lots of small attentions but that make a difference. The rooms are slightly small but it’s hongkong so it’s somewhat expected, again they make sure you have everything you need, even plug adaptors are provided. We had a lovely stay at the Dorsett. The staff were really friendly and kind and went out of their way to help us, for instance always having a large table for out family group at breakfast. The breakfast was very nice, with something for everyone. I particularly enjoyed the congi and watermelon/melon/pineapple. The filter coffee was also very good. The rooms aren't large but they are spotlessly clean and the shower is a lovely powerful rain one. Our room had a beautiful view of Lion Rock which I loved. We found it very comfortable to relax in - good aircon etc... and a fridge. They provide a glass water bottle and drinking water on various floors which I thought was a nice green thing to do. The hotel minibus once an hour turned out to be really handy, but the hotel is also well-served with MTR stations, buses and mini-buses. There's also a public swimming pool across the road which I would have used if it hadn't been shut for maintenance. It was also very easy to get a taxi to the airport - constant taxis lined up outside. There are lots of lovely small restaurants all around and we had some amazing dim sum. And there are shops everywhere so you can get anything you need nearby. We would definitely stay there again.

On the positive side the the hotel was clean and the staff friendly and helpful.
On the downside, our double room was extremely small; so small in fact that one side of the bed was pushed against the wall meaning a disturbed nights sleep when one of us went to the loo.
We had three nights at this hotel as part of a cruise package and can honestly say that the bathroom and the bedroom were considerably smaller than our cabin on the ship. There is extremely limited space for hanging or storing clothes and wasn't even a bedside table at one side of the bed.
I think it also worth pointing that the view from our room bore absolutely no resemblance to the hotel's publicity shots.
Location wise its not really in one of the fashionable touristy areas of Hong Kong but isn't too far Olympic MRT station. We found the area around the hotel rather rundown although we felt safe walking about after dark.
The hotels restaurant was closed during our stay for refurbishment for the entirety of our stay.
As it was part of an overall package including three nights in Singapore and a 12 night Cruise, I can't really comment on the Value for Money provided by the Hotel but I would have expected much more from a Four Star Hotel in the UK or US.

I am spending my 7th day quarantine in Dorsett Mongkok. Feeling very happy and satisfied. Just let the staffs know if you need something and they will attend to you within a short time. Very helpful and attentive!
The staffs will keep me updated on any PCR tests, and will ring my room 30mins before the medical officers arrive. I feel less stressed and more relieved as do not need to check with them constantly.
The food here is just normal, but the food is warm and it comes punctually. Dorsett encourages the guests here to recycle plastic containers by preparing cleaning detergent and dish cloth in the room, they will collect and recycle the containers once we check out of the hotel.
I am staying in Comfort Room, suitable for solo traveller. Room is spacious enough for 1 (actually 2 also fine) and very clean! The price of the room per night is within budget.
In a nutshell, happy and satisfied stay!

I visited the hotel while they were redecorating, so it’s quite confusing for the entrance. Any people can go inside, not so much safety here. As I went alone it’s quite concerning, but I think when they are finished, the safety will be much better. The elevator took quite long time. My room kinda smell like swimming pool, but they have air purifier. The bed and the pillow are amazing. The air conditioner works well. They provide hair dryer and also adapter for changing. Also have a glass flask so you can fill it from water dispenser on some floors without having to buy from outside. The bathroom is great, both warm and cold water are perfect. Towels are clean and the soaps are nice. The staffs are friendly and professional. No loud noises at night. Overall, they gave me a very great time here.
