The room is considered reasonable in size for Hong Kong, though seems small to some travellers. The staff were very helpful and able to provide an upgrade service for us for the higher floors upon our requests. The mini bar are also given to us for free throughout our stay. In general, the rooms are clean, the stay is very...

The hotel lobby is classy. I like the marble floors and chairs. But the room that was given to us is small..very narrow...hard to move around. That includes the narrow comfort room and toilet area. Location is good tho. Housekeeping needs improvement. Buffet breakfast is just ok, nothing amazing..just the normal food choices you get from most hotels in HKG.

We stayed at empire hotel two night in February. The staff were very pleasant and welcome us once our arrival and escorted us to the reception. Room was not too big but it is good enough for us. Free cell phone provided to us including free internet and oversea call service. The staff always greet us with nice smile when...

I stayed in The Empire Hotel Wan Chai for 3 nights on business trip to HK in Dec 2016. I was pleasantly surprised when my booking was upgraded to "Executive Suite" ---- it's twice the size of a regular room in hotel. Although the Wan Chai metro station is closer, I actually walked more often to the Admiralty Station which...

This is the second time , I stayed in the hotel , and the quality was way lower than the first time . The first time , everything was excellent (December 2016) This time , not so good , the room furniture was old , the house keeping service was not so good , they didn't refill the drinks on...

Very comfortable, pleasingly designed hotel, excellent location on the island close to MTR, and cute street trams, helpful smiley staff AND up for a deal. Bathroom was rather tired, tiny bath, crude sealant finishing; annoyingly the pool was out of action - should have said so on website at time of booking - but minor gripes to an otherwise splendid...

A non descript hotel in down town wan chai advertising itself as a 4 star but in reality a 3 star with the occasional 2 star issues. Good news: mattresses were firm. Staff ranged from bored to reasonable. Breakfast was a mixed bag in a classroom type restaurant with ridiculously cold air con. Several guests turned up in coats to...

Very nice hotel located close to metro, airport shuttle bus stop, and regular public bus stop from the airport is very close. We were greeted by friendly staff at the reception and were offered a complimentary upgrade to a bigger room - a pleasant surprice. The room was spotlessly clean, very big and spacious and had a nice city view....

Room a bit small, but still able to store 2 large suitcases and 2 carry ons. Carpet worn, but room and bathroom clean. Nice soft bath towels. Wifi worked well and free drinks in refrigerator. Included use of smart phone which many hotels in Hong Kong do. Room overlooked Henessey Street, but not too noisy. Breakfast good with lots of...

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
