The Alisan Guest House is a little warren of 21 small rooms among many others in a big building, right in the heart of Hong Kong Island. While the rooms are minimalist, they are good value – they have AC, a shower shared with the toilet (as in other small places), a warm, well-informed, and helpful staff, fine security, and...

This is right type of guest house. Simple not overly done, clean place to sleep, security and a comfy bed. I have no need for a 5 star hotel when most of the time I am out running about the city. Located in the heart of the City it's in throwing distance of everything. Service is fantastic and they remember...

Despite many positive reviews, my stay over there is not pleasant at all, the TV is not working and the room and beds look old. Before I move into Alisan, I stayed over in Kowloon area before moving to Alisan, and with the money I spent on Alisan, I can find a better stay in Kowloon. Money-wise, not recommend (old...

A clean, safe and comfortable accomodation. In a great location, close to the MTR. Wilson was very knowledgeable and helpful about things to do in Hong Kong. Never did get the TV to work. Plan on waking up early to turn on the hot water for your shower. I would definitely suggest ear plugs for sleeping. The rain pelting down...

This guesthouse is clean and well located. However, the staff were cold and unfriendly Leaving at 9 am for breakfast was challenged by staff about my 10 am checkout time. I did not feel welcome and will not be returning. More friendly staff would attract second visits.

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

    Neighbourhood Profile
    Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
