Detailed Reviews
We stayed her on the final leg of our China tour. First, Pros about the hotel. It’s central, tucked between trendy restaurants but a little hike with your suitcases from the corner where taxi drops you. Great breakfast and snacks provided, as well as amazing coffee in lobby. Walking distance to almost everything, we walked easily to Jade market, Ladies market and a little hike to Bird and Flower markets but worth the hike. Concierges suggested two wonderful restaurants, one for steak with amazing views, Australian steakhouse steps from hotel, and another near that you order your fresh seafood and they steam it in steamers in front of you...delicious
Cons...rooms are tiny, the one we booked on Expedia would not fit us two women friends traveling with two large suitcases, and two carryons. We upgraded to a suite on the top level with panoramic views of city and plenty of room...well worth the cost. Fridge and coffee maker are nice plus

Good hotel, great location if u wanna experience bar culture in HK. Everything is good except the floor a bit sticky. Higher floor would be better, free refreshment corner near reception can get some cake, candy, soft drink, coffee (Starbucks).

It was my friend birthday and I had chosen The Perkin Hotel as a party room to celebrate. It locates just next to The Mira Hong Kong which is so convenient. Hotel staffs are nice and to me, I love the mini bar there most, with free and unlimited Starbucks coffee. Cola and candies are also unlimited too! Rooms are clean and comfortable. The Sony smart TV even allowed me to watch YouTube 🤣. Netflix is also available too. The hotel just gives me a feeling of “home”. It is not a well-known hotel in HK, but it worth staying. Just one thing, it would be a lot better if there is a larger rubbish bin ~

I booked this hotel for a special rate on agoda and everything went smoothly and got the confirmation email voucher. Then the next day I got a call from agoda who told me the hotel needed to cancel on me because their rooms were full....
I then went to check the agoda website and also other platforms like expedia and hotels.com with the same hotel and dates and its still available but suddenly and coincidentally the prices doubled! They basically lied to agoda saying the rooms were full just because they didn't want to honour their original pricing and wanted to cancel on me and raise the price for the market! This kind of dishonest behaviour is filthy and money oriented instead of honesty.
Everyone beware booking this hotel in the future as they might change their mind and cancel on you in the last minute and make up rubbish reasons. They really think the consumers are dumb and can't check themselves....
In my 10 years of using agoda I've never seen a hotel this dishonest and cash greedy to the core!

I actually experienced the same horrible and unethical business practice as another user here, "willy w". Booked on Agoda weeks before our stay at a reasonable rate and the option was to, "Pay at the Hotel". The cancellation was free until the 19th of April but I had no plans of cancelling.
I get an email asking to update my credit card so I use my partner's card (the person who'd be staying with me) and Agoda confirmed the booking. A few hours later, I get a request to cancel the booking from the Perkin themselves and I was confused and irritated since I literally just gave them an updated credit card to hold the booking. I emailed them to ask if they needed my partner's details or what the issue was but no response.
I messaged Agoda to ask if my booking was in fact confirmed and they told me it was and sent me the booking confirmation. I wake up today seeing that while I was asleep that the booking was cancelled by me. Which is impossible because I was asleep when the cancellation occurred. I messaged Agoda and they told me it was actually this hotel that cancelled the booking because the credit card we used to hold the reservation didn't match my name. But it shouldn't have been an issue because we were using my partners credit card and he'd also be staying with me for the booking. I remember seeing their prices surge when they attempted to cancel with me and kept thinking, "They wouldn't possibly be trying to do this because I got a good deal and this is their unethical way of either price gouging or unethically "off-boarding" guests who have a confirmed reservation.." Turns out it was. In my years of making bookings with hotel and even working at the hotel industry, this was the first time I've encountered something like this. Writing this review as a warning to people who make a booking and room rates suddenly increase, they will most likely cancel your booking even if you have a confirmed one.
To The Perkin Hotel, you should be afraid of the type of karma you're attracting with the unethical business "practices" that you apply.

Upon having confirmed my booking on hotels.com the hotel refused to accept my week-long booking. The reason stated was that I was 'a traveler' and was not a local and they were taking in no foreigners due to the pandemic. Also please note that the hotel was checking in guests both before and after I had arrived. The person at check-in wasn't accomodating me for some reason.
I am also in-fact a Hong Kong Permanent ID Cardholder and the hotel still refused to honor my reservation. Very upset at the way I was treated and expected more from a hotel with such great reviews.

It is a very comfortable with high privacy hotel, price is acceptable and staff is friendly.
I booked 3 times for this hotel, and it usually spend 5 mins for check in. The location is also convenience for shopping and eating.

I recommend it. Great location, super clean, boutique hotel. It’s located above bars/restaurants. Quite hidden. Better than a lot of the big chain hotels that’s at a higher price. Stylish. That’s about all I have to say.

+1
Is it a challenge to find the hotel??! YES!!!! Call ahead (although they are not that helpful), Use google map and figure out how to actually get to the hotel...since there is no road that passes outside the front door. Just a sidewalk alleyway 'Knutsford Terrace" with about 20 bars/restaurants full of tourist being very loud and tipsy (probably a selling point for some Im sure)...the hotel is in the middle of that. The hotel is new and clean, so that is a plus.
There is one nice thing about the hotel...which Ill mention towards the end.
If you have luggage (or not) get dropped off at Carmarvon & Kimberly (Mira Mall). There is a covered escalator or steep ramp that takes you up to Knutsford turn right..once you see the row of bars/restaurants keep walking until you see the hotel about half way.
The doors to the reception are heavy and the incredibly rude check in staff WILL NOT even budge to come help you. They are completely disinterested in their guests...especially if there is an issue. During my stay it was freezing cold. If you stay here during the winter or cold weather THERE IS NO HEATING!!!!! It was freezing and absolutely miserable in the room. A real shame since the hotel rooms are absolutely beautiful with good views from the upper floors...there is AC. The staff let this hotel down greatly! if it was not for the aforementioned I would have rated the hotel a 4.
I guess for the price it works well and if you can ignore the hotel staff, and know that you're on your own...it will be a nice stay.
There are restaurants on the first 3-4 floors of the hotel. They seem popular! The hotel offers a free mini-bar with free unlimited snacks and drinks in the lobby.
ONE NICE THING
Upon check-out, I was offered a free book from their library in the reception/snack area. Some of these books were quite expensive. I thought that was nice...so go help yourself to a book. It's the least they can do.
OH. There is a price list in the room, for damage/theft (lovely, right?) Make sure that everything that is listed is actually in the room, if not call down and tell the frosty disinterested check in staff to make a note of it.
LAUNDRY SERVICE
There is a Sunshine Laundry about 3 mins walk from the hotel on Kimberly and Shun Yee St. They can do laundry in 3 hours (10% extra charge) otherwise next day...its by weight. A weeks worth of clothing was cleaned for $10USD (when I stayed at the Hyatt the week before they wanted $200 USD for it) so they are a bargain and very good. Its just wash/dry fold...no iron, but still good. There are several locations all over HK.
The Mira Mall has a lot of upscale shopping and restaurants on different floors.
Below the Hyatt in the shopping mall 5 mins away is a great supermarket in the basement, and drug stores. There are about 10 massive shopping malls all around you.
The night market is just north of the hotel.
Marks and Spencers is 2 mins from the hotel in the Mira Mall by that escalator. A larger M&S is over in the Ocean Mall 10 mins away. Restaurants everywhere!!
Subway stations are very close. HK Island is 10 mins away. HK is easy to get around. China is 50 mins by train with visa on arrival (for certain countries - exc France and the US ;-) ..nice way to see a bit of China for up to 5 days in the Shenzhen area...we went for the day. Two mega malls right at the border on the Chinese side.....so cheap its practically free...hah
The Hop on Hop Off sightseeing bus is a HUGE value since it includes access to the tram up to Victoria Peak (avoiding the 2 hour lines) plus a free 1 hr harbour ride and a ton of other things. Also I think it has access to the skytrams up to the Big Buddha near the airport...or you avoid the lines.
AIRPORT SHUTTLE
If you take the express train from the airport...shuttle buses fan out to different hotels from the Kowloon station. Since this hotel is not on the list...you have to arrive/depart from a neighbouring hotel. I arrived at the Standford Hillview Hotel and then walked along Knutsford for about 200 yards. I departed from Luxe Manor hotel which is opposite the Perkins, but you have to walk around to Kimberly St for where the bus picks you up and just wait outside.
Good luck!

Well done to the Perkin!!. The hotel is now perfection. When I reviewed this hotel in January 2016 I said it could be amazing but the negatives were too many. WELL, wow...they fixed EVERYTHING and its now perfect.
I didn't really want to return but needed a hotel at the last minute and was curious since the reviews had steadily grown better. Well management took notice.
Front desk staff are now nice and helpful. The rooms were never the problem (still excellent) and have heaters juuuust incase it gets cold. AC is solid freezing when need be. (still a little tricky to get to the perfect temperature ...either not cold enough or too cold)...but its fine.
Stunning views if you get on the top floor. They say you cannot see Victoria Harbour. You can see some of it from the top few floors...but some buildings block it.
Basically this is a great hotel now. Great location. Great price for the most part.
I had a crazy request at the end of my stay which they honored. Didn't need it in the end, but that they said they would do it made me realize they are serious about putting the guests first.
So book its amazing now! I'm shocked but pleased since my last review of them was not kind and I'm happy to say all is great at the Perkin at least for as long as they keep it great.
I should add the rooms are spacious for HK! Close to everything!

Enjoy!!!!

Your reply coincides with what I expected would be the case. Thanks for confirming it for me.
Location is opposite THE MIRA hotel. You'd see a small Marks & Spencer, next to it is a steep slope. Walk up to the top, turn right and pass a few restaurants and the entrance is on your left. It's just a simple lift lobby (don't expect grand hotel lobby), take lift to 5/F that's where you check in.
I think, only you will go to there, Airport to Kowloon station by Express train.
After then, take a Taxi is easy for you.
If 3-4 persons totaland many bags you have, you take a Taxi is better.
Cheeper and difficult cary to hotel, i think. Taxi driver said, the price is arround 300-400HKD.
Last I tried the hotel was full and could not enter early. But they can hold your luggage and you can enjoy the free breakfast
Hello, I'm not sure this year. However, way back our travel (2016), the hotel does not provide any crib and extra bed. I suggest to email the hotel as a special request. They might consider your situation. Hope it helps.
