Found this on TA advice. Location was great for MRT and airport. Short walking distance from station. Lots of food halls around- not catering for coeliacs though. On entering foyer area the stench of cigarette smoke permeated the air. There were notifications on the desk advising of fines if you smoked in the rooms, and the lifts had stickers to...

I found this while searching for a hotel in Singapore. The hotel is excellent for the price. The location is good and only a short walk to MRT where you can go anywhere in Singapore for very little. This area is safe. A few years ago my daughter and I stayed at the Peninsula Excelsior Hotel for about $100/night. The...

Understand that this hotel is not new, but the cleaniness of the room definitely give it away. Classic and decent type of room. We book a standard room but upgraded to family room which is comfortable enough and fit to 4-5 pax. I love this location as it is easy to find halal food around. Near to the subway about...

Not a great one there are certainly better for the same cost. Rooms very small and very dark I would say it was clean but there is a strange smell not just in the room but in the hotel. Staff were very informative and friendly. I must say I wouldn't recommend.

Good Budget Hotel - clean safe - Great Staff very friendly - Singapore Hotels are high priced so a good budget hotel is something you need to find. About half way between the airport and city, located in a Malay Area. Next to several restaurants and a grocery store.

I stayed here for 1 night and it was pretty unpleasant. The room had no window, was very small and there was no shower curtain. I'm pretty sure I saw people checking in with hookers when I arrived, seems like that kind of place they rent out by the hour. I asked them to call me a taxi when I...

Terrible experience starting from front desk/reception service to the room itself. Staff were so unfriendly. Couldn't even offer us a smile. The room has no window. It is so small I was lucky I was staying alone. Two people would make it congested. Bathroom is also small with a bathtub. No bidet or water closet so it was kinda of...

My god, the shower pressure was the best I've had in any hotel I have stayed. Apart from that, the hotel was what I have expected for the price paid. Close to the airport. Bathroom, linen is clean. Air on is working well, towels clean, quiet, very helpful staff, free Internet. Again, perfect pad close to the airport if you...

This a good pick for the ones who come just to rest at night. you get neat but SMALL room. The only thing that might disturb your sleep is the noises and disturbances people make round the clock..as there are lots of people who take rooms for one hour or more...and these people will be coming and going out making...

Staying in Joo Chiat

Neighbourhood Profile
Joo Chiat
The Joo Chiat area is the traditional home of Peranakan culture in Singapore, an ethnic group descending from the blending of Chinese and Malay families in the 15th century. The neighbourhood is packed with colourful shops, local characters, and quiet charm. The main streets overflow with diners enjoying katong laksa, the signature Peranakan spicy noodle soup. Signs of youthful entrepreneurship are visible as well, with modern cafes, bars, and shops abounding. Visit Joo Chiat to take a break from the big city sights and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with a laid-back and local vibe.
