Stayed 5 nights in this compact and efficient hostel. Singapore accommodation on the whole is rather expensive especially for backpackers but rucksack is priced and is run by friendly and helpful staff. The 6 bed dorm is a little on the cramped side but the atmosphere and cleanliness is great. I would definitely stay again.

Stayed here for three nights, very friendly and helpful staff. Super location just at the MRT Chinatown stop. Stayed in a 8 bed dorm, clean and comfortable beds and nice common area with good wifi. Expensive but think singapore is in general, would definately stay here again.

Great location, really friendly helpful staff, great wifi, clean toilets and showers with great power! Rooms a bit cramped but really clean and comfortable! The common room is great with a tv and movies on whenever you want! Breakfast is all day which is really cool!

I stayed for one night, but the stay was very comfortable and pleasant. Staff are not the warmest or friendliest people, but are still okay. Bed and lighting is just nice and right. Comfort room is clean and okay.

My first experience at a hostel. Stayed there for 3 nights. It was a pleasant experience :) Though at first I was a little bit shocked finding the toilets and bathrooms were a little small for my taste. But then I found how really close it was with MRT stations, bus stops, a McDonald's outlet, cultural sites, shopping malls, etc....

I enjoyed staying at the Rucksack Inn. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Also the MRT is right around the corner which makes it very easy to get around, because it's situated in the heart of chinatown. All rooms and facilities are newly refurbished and kept clean. I stayed in a 8 bed mixed dorm and found the room quite...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colourful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
