We had a lovely one night stay at the Santa Gramd East Coast. The staff were very nice and helpful and room was a good size and very clean. Only issue was that w had some very noisy neighbors, though this was not the fault of the hotel.

Great little hotel, the family room was very large and comfortable - nice decor. Pool is great for those hot days! Nice area, plenty of hidden gems around here and a short taxi from the marina area, no train stop round here unfortunately.

Great location, easy check in and staff friendly and helpful. Perfect accommodation for a 2 night stay and close to public transport and restaurants. Close to the airport as well. Will come back to stay here!

The first time I have been offered a smart phone with my stay at the hotel and it was the best thing because we were able to find restaurants, book an uber, search for places to go and make phone calls when needed. We were in Singapore for only 24 hours but this little help from the hotel made it...

This is the second time in 4 years we have used this hotel, the first time for 17 days and this time for 14 days. On Dec 2016 Christmas holidays my family visited me in Singapore where I am based all 8 of them together. I've booked 2 rooms with 2 single beds for them. The price is worth for a big party and budget traveller like us where we usually go out every day. The best offers this hotel could give are the rooftop...

Love staying here, been 2x now. Love the street and area, very heritage and lots of character. Hotel rooms a bit small but they provide needed comforts. Best feature is the excellent and lovely staff who go over and beyond in being of assistance.

Nice hotel, no windows in our room but it wasn't such a big problem for us. Breakfast is good but we were expecting a bit more. Staying in Joo Chiat

Neighbourhood Profile
Joo Chiat
The Joo Chiat area is the traditional home of Peranakan culture in Singapore, an ethnic group descending from the blending of Chinese and Malay families in the 15th century. The neighbourhood is packed with colourful shops, local characters, and quiet charm. The main streets overflow with diners enjoying katong laksa, the signature Peranakan spicy noodle soup. Signs of youthful entrepreneurship are visible as well, with modern cafes, bars, and shops abounding. Visit Joo Chiat to take a break from the big city sights and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with a laid-back and local vibe.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located in the East Coast area, Santa Grand Hotel East Coast is nestled at the heart of Katong, well known for its Peranakan heritage and culture. The hotel is also within the larger Joo Chiat area, which was designated as the national heritage conservation area by the Singapore Government with the intention of preserving its rich history, culture and architecture. This Peranakan themed boutique hotel aims to introduce Singapore's unique culture and tradition to visitors, just like its predecessors at Santa Grand Hotel Bugis, Santa Grand Hotel Little India and Santa Grand Hotel Chinatown. Santa Grand Hotel East Coast is built on a 2-storey conservation frontage backed by a 5-storey building. Guests will feel welcomed in the lobby, decorated in bright Peranakan colors, that comes with comfortable seating areas and a business center. Rooms come in four different designs, themes and colors that guests will feel the freshness and variety each time they stay with us. A roof top swimming pool and Jacuzzi offer guests a chance to relax in a tranquil environment with a bird's eye view of the low-lying housing architecture symbolic of the Joo Chiat heritage. Bright colors are used on design of the hotel, similar to the patented sophistication seen in the homes of the Peranakans, creating a warm and inviting ambience and leaving guests with fond memories of the stay. Be it for leisure travelers or travelers on business trip, Santa Grand Hotel East Coast is the place you want to stay in to immerse in a uniquely Singapore culture. Take a walk around the area and you will be amazed by the large variety of food to choose from. A definite must-try would have to be the famous Katong laska, well-liked by Singaporeans and visitors alike, this signature dish can be counted as one of the most popular favorites in Singapore! For outdoors, the hotel is near the popular East Coast Parkway where guests can exercise or just relax amidst the cooling breeze along the Singapore coastline. ... more   less
