Rooms were small, breakfast options limited, best part was the handy phone. Everything was charged like for the water bottles , if we ask for a bottle from reception they charged 2$ for the same and said only the room service ones are free

Front desk may want to review on their personal hygiene & their professionalism in welcoming their guests. 1st, when were checking in, it was already very late and we already had a long tiring day of appointments and needed just a place to rest before our next morning early appointment at the eastern of Singapore, thus we had chosen santa...

I recently visited my daughter who is in Singapore for 4 months. I needed somewhere clean, comfortable & convenient that was reasonably priced. The Santa Grand more than met my requirements and I stayed a total of 10 nights. The staff were friendly & helpful - Hillary & Mary were particularly delightful. The room, although smaller than I am accustomed,...

This was an excellent hotel in so many ways. Rooms were well presented and modern , location was brilliant for eating and drinking, staff were helpful and friendly, pool was very good. However the room size was ridiculous -- we stayed in a twin room and there was no room to store or even open our suitcases. Probably the smallest...

Bathroom has not been cleaned properly. Upon arrival there was some confusion over what our needs were. I understand that we are in a non English speaking country so we got through it but it was a bit tedious. Fridge had not been switched on so our drinks did not stay cold. Overall the room was acceptable but I thought...

Good C/P Ratio: Everything suits your expectation for a 3-star hotel. It is cool that they provide a smart phone for each room with free internet and local/ international calls. The content (trip/ attraction/ food advice) is relatively useful.

Stayed for 1 night in superior twin room. On the plus side, the room was clean, bed comfortable, good bathroom and staff were friendly and helpful. But, a very small room with no space to put one suitcase, let alone two. Pool was OK, but very small seating area so easily crowded. We had room 409 which was next to...

The Santa Grand East Coast is a small, friendly hotel and good value for money, especially in Singapore. The roof top pool is lovely and the area close by has lots of eateries with terrific cheap food. You can catch a bus into town from near the front of the hotel. Very happy to recommend!

The room was clean. The carpet looks old. The bathroom laminating stickers were too much. If it were white laminating stickers the room will look much better. I know the room is not big but with better design it can improve the aesthetic significantly! I have stayed in smaller room than this but the aesthetic are much better. Breakfast area...

Staying in Joo Chiat

Neighbourhood Profile
Joo Chiat
The Joo Chiat area is the traditional home of Peranakan culture in Singapore, an ethnic group descending from the blending of Chinese and Malay families in the 15th century. The neighbourhood is packed with colourful shops, local characters, and quiet charm. The main streets overflow with diners enjoying katong laksa, the signature Peranakan spicy noodle soup. Signs of youthful entrepreneurship are visible as well, with modern cafes, bars, and shops abounding. Visit Joo Chiat to take a break from the big city sights and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with a laid-back and local vibe.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located in the East Coast area, Santa Grand Hotel East Coast is nestled at the heart of Katong, well known for its Peranakan heritage and culture. The hotel is also within the larger Joo Chiat area, which was designated as the national heritage conservation area by the Singapore Government with the intention of preserving its rich history, culture and architecture. This Peranakan themed boutique hotel aims to introduce Singapore's unique culture and tradition to visitors, just like its predecessors at Santa Grand Hotel Bugis, Santa Grand Hotel Little India and Santa Grand Hotel Chinatown. Santa Grand Hotel East Coast is built on a 2-storey conservation frontage backed by a 5-storey building. Guests will feel welcomed in the lobby, decorated in bright Peranakan colors, that comes with comfortable seating areas and a business center. Rooms come in four different designs, themes and colors that guests will feel the freshness and variety each time they stay with us. A roof top swimming pool and Jacuzzi offer guests a chance to relax in a tranquil environment with a bird's eye view of the low-lying housing architecture symbolic of the Joo Chiat heritage. Bright colors are used on design of the hotel, similar to the patented sophistication seen in the homes of the Peranakans, creating a warm and inviting ambience and leaving guests with fond memories of the stay. Be it for leisure travelers or travelers on business trip, Santa Grand Hotel East Coast is the place you want to stay in to immerse in a uniquely Singapore culture. Take a walk around the area and you will be amazed by the large variety of food to choose from. A definite must-try would have to be the famous Katong laska, well-liked by Singaporeans and visitors alike, this signature dish can be counted as one of the most popular favorites in Singapore! For outdoors, the hotel is near the popular East Coast Parkway where guests can exercise or just relax amidst the cooling breeze along the Singapore coastline. ... more   less
