If you expect over the top Asian service, don't go to the Scarlet although the hotel is nice and the location is fantastic the service attitude leaves much to desire. No help with luggage (arrival and departure), no interaction with reception not even a smile, small rooms, average breakfast and only the roof top restaurant went a bit out of...

We checked in about 11:00 p.m. and were sent in the wrong direction - please note that the hotel has an "Alice in Wonderland on crack" feel and the rooms are not arranged in traditional format. The clerk realized her mistake and found us wandering and took us to the OTHER third floor, accessible through a different elevator. Our room...

We had the opportunity to stay at the Splendour Suite, and It was indeed a splendid stay. The room was very comfortable and spacious, and the bathroom had a bathtub (with Jacuzzi facilities), which made the stay even better. The rain shower in the bathroom also added comfort to the stay, and it is definitely a boutique hotel I would...

Very clean, good check in service (late at night). Room was quiet. Close to Chinatown and River Quay section. Would stay again. Excellent front desk staff. Room had mobile smartphone to use for street walking.

This delightful hotel situated on the edge of Chinatown in Singapore is in a great location. It is just a minute walking distance from Chinatown and near to the bus routes etc. It is in a small side road off the main drags and reasonably quiet. However there is a major building project across the road but this did not...

They have everything you need, soft towels, comfy bed, even a spare umbrella for those stormy days in the rainy season so you don't get caught in the rain. Staff were all very nice. Newly decorated. Beautiful building, I love the old style. And inside it's fun, very nicely done rooms. Would definitely go back again.

I stayed at the Scarlet in Singapore twice before. This time I was quite disappointed in the overall level of service. The room was ok, except the shower door could not shut properly, so the bathroom floor got wet every time I took a shower. The bedding leaves much to be desired. Clean but very thin bedcovers. I had to...

Stayed here for 2 nights. We choose the cheapest option with a room with no window. Was above our expectations in every way. First off with the no window it was a positive as it was darker (for great sleeping and quieter) I dont know why you would want a window unless your looking over a great harbour or great...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colourful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Scarlet Singapore, Singapore's first luxury boutique hotel, has made a bold statement, both locally and internationally, by preserving and combining the architectural styles of Singapore heritage buildings with a striking, audacious concept. Vivacious and uninhibited, the interiors of this 80-room hotel pulsate with an eclectic tension, offering all who enter an adventure for the senses. Using signature red and combining it with opulent gold and sophisticated black, the hotel decor's provocative style is followed through in the rooms including 5 individually-themed suites, each with a tantalizing name - Splendour, Passion, Opulent, Lavish and Swank. ... more   less
