A lovey little hostel that comes highly recommended in Lonely Planet and by other backpackers. Situated in a safe area and a couple of minute walk in to the restaurants and bars of the main strip. The beds were comfortable, showers were warm and the wifi was good. They provide tours and you can pay extra and get the hostel...

I stayed at Compass del sur for nearly 2 weeks during the Christmas holidays. I had a very comfortable bed in the spacious dormitory. I notified the staff that I had some health issues and they went the xtra mile to accommodate me. The hostel is close to downtown and the local bus stops. The staff organized activities for the...

Of all the hostels where I've stayed in past year, this is the only one that left me feeling ripped off. It is grossly overpriced for what little you get. The owner was quite rude and demanding, as he is only focused on money, not fair service. There are plenty of better options in this town.

As there was a congress in Puerto Varas with no rooms available in main hotels, we stayed at Compass del Sur: it resulted a very pleasant surprise. We booked on the internet via a booking site and ended up with a room with shared bathroom, not exactly as planned and without mention on the booking site. We shared our concern...

Nice hostel except only 2 bathrooms/toilets and wifi is not always working and if i am honest i leave with a bad feeling... We paid in advance four nights because we thought it was better for both sides that it was arranged but after 3 days of rain and actually off season there is not much to do and when...

Dear guest, like we said by phone last Saturday, “thank you for choosing our hostel for your stay in Puerto Varas”. Unfortunately we were not responsible for the bad weather conditions during your stay in pto Varas. “If the weather was the reason for your change in plans” and you demand repayment right on the day of your early departure.....

This hostel is nice and clean. The two different private rooms we used (we stayed in two separate occasions) were comfortable with good mattresses and newly refurbished bathrooms. The owner is very accommodating and helpful. The staff (hired travelers) were mostly friendly. Breakfast is OK. It was nice to have a laundry service but it was sometime carelessly done and...

This hostel is in a neat old building that has a nice ambiance with wood stoves, old hardwood floors, and simple rooms. It's just outside the main city center so an easy walk to the buses, restaurants, stores, etc. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful, speak English (among other languages), and gave nice advice for sites worth...

We really enjoyed our stay here. Nice place, with decent kitchen, nice rooms and a close walk to the main part of town. We used their airport transfer and it was great. Only complaint was, they charge a lousy exchange rate on USD and credit card transactions so make sure you have pesos.

This is a nice hostel, it is kept clean, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. However, I would not recommend it for camping (even though they offer). First of all, the camping is rather expensive, about 9,000 CLP per night per person. You do get access to the amenities (wi-fi, a well stocked kitchen, and a rather basic breakfast),...
