Used BMB apartments for 4 days on and off between travelling around the country. As a base to see the city this was perfect, the rooms were cleaned to a high standard and of good basic quality. Bear in mind the price this is not a luxury hotel - the shower and bathroom was to a good clean standard and the apartment comes with a kitchen sink, tv, fridge and safe; there is a swimming pool but it does get busy with residents from the rest of the apartment block. Location is right in the heart of the city with alot of restaurants cafes and a supermarket within walking distance. The main plus with these apartments were the BMB staff, our main point of contact were Valeria and Juan who spoke English (Santiago is Spanish speaking with most not speaking a lick of English)and made our stay much more productive than if we had opted for another guest house or even hotel. All in all I would definitely recommend BMB for a stay in Santiago.

BMB Suites is not in any way, shape, or form, a hotel. It is instead an apartment rental service. On their website where we booked our stay, a pleasant lobby is pictured but this is nothing but a deception. In actuality this lobby belong to the "Huerfanos 1400" building and is not associated with BMB Suites. When we first entered "Huerfanos 1400" we immediately smelled a strong wreak of flatulence and it turns out that day the building had a sewage leak. This would be the first of many red flags. The next would come when we entered the elevator. Here we saw posters warning of cockroaches and active fumigation in the apartments (see pictures). Locating the reception office was difficult; it was on the second floor of building B in an unmarked room indistinguishable from other apartment rooms on that floor. There was no sign on the door to even indicate a place of business was present. The reception was helpful enough but English was quite limited and some staff members did not speak any. Once in our room we discovered a number of disappointments. The windows were very dirty and covered in grime on the outside. There were mysterious stains on every single chair in the kitchen, as well as several large ones on the carpet throughout the apartment. Mold was also apparent in several spots on the walls of the apartment (see pictures). On turning on the bathroom light we were greeted by the intense continual shriek of the broken bathroom fan; both a ridiculous and hilarious event. And the WiFi was also junk. There were so many competing access points - over twenty - in the building using the same spectrum (2.4 ghz) that the interference was so strong that I could barely get any access even a couple of feet from the router. Forget streaming anything, even browsing was impossible. We also encountered cockroaches, one appearing in the bed room, and one in the kitchen several hours into our stay. Fed up we decided to cancel our four night stay and approached management with our list of complaints. This proved impossible however, as the cancellation policy prohibited us from even receiving a single day's refund. In fairness we knew what we signed, but a hospitable service will make concessions if their accommodations are unacceptable or defective. Incidentally, the hot water was turned off in the building that night due to maintenance - a good hotel might not even rent out rooms for that day. One infuriating aspect to BMB Suites was the amount of work it took to communicate with management after we had checked out. The individual at the service desk - lets call him N -, told us that only his manager "J" would be able to offer us a refund and that we should a) email him or b) come back later in the day. If this sounds bogus to you in today's world of cellphones, that's because it was. Therein started a long cat and mouse game where we continually tried to get in contact with J before finally giving up. Over a period of two weeks, we emailed the man multiple times, left our phone number with N several times, and continually called their office and for this effort, we never received even a single reply regarding our request for a possible refund. Can you comprehend how absurd a situation this was? Can you imagine if you had a serious issue with your stay and you had to "email" the manager for a resolution? And what if you had to chase management for days just because they decided not to show up or because they could not be contacted under any circumstances? If a sewage leak, ongoing fumigation, cockroaches, dirty surroundings, and a lack of hot water are not enough to get management's attention, good luck with them helping you with anything else. We cannot strongly recommend enough avoiding this total con job. There are other places to stay that are close by and of similar cost that there is absolutely no compelling reason to choose BMB Suites.

Response from bmbsuites, Gerente at BMB Suites
Responded May 30, 2018
Saludos cordiales Juan Pablo Zaragoza

I booked this hotel via British Airways holidays. I’m actually really surprised how this passed BA’s criteria. There are four blocks. When you arrive you have to find the office which is in zone B and not the main reception. Whilst I can say the staff were very kind and tried to be helpful, they don’t speak much English so you almost need to know some Spanish. My apartment was based on floor 20 in Zone A and you consistently have to wait long periods for a lift. The apartment was in very poor condition. The portable AC unit kept breaking down, utensils were broken. I was booked on a B&B basis but no breakfast or food was provided. There were no instructions or fire procedures and it felt unsafe. The safe had no batteries in to be able to use it so I had to purchase my own. The pool area on the roof was good, along with the downtown location and staff but in general, I don’t recommend this place to stay.

We booked this hotel through BA website so expected it to be to a certain standard. No. Sadly not. Dirty flooring, feet filthy first day as we kicked shoes off on entering. Shower mouldy. Damp smell in there. The fans moved the hot air around the room. Sleeping was a problem. Bed comfortable though, that was something. Breakfast was a loaf of white cheap bread left in the room and few pats of butter and jam left in fridge with juice box and small milk carton. We left it and bought fruit and cereal. A total con. Location was good

If you want an apartment right in the centre of Santiago, this place is ideal. The kitchenette has just enough space and equipment to cook your own meals, Santa Isabel supermarket is literally across the road, and you are right in the middle of town. It is a bit noisy, which you would expect in the centre of a big city, but it is very convenient and comfortable. However, it is not very clean - there was dirt and accumulated dust everywhere. Santiago is quite an expensive place to stay, and the apartment we rented from BMB Suites was a reasonable price. Staff are really nice. When we arrived, we asked at reception where the BMB office was, and they gave us very clear directions. It was also easy to find the apartment, the (small) pool and the laundrette. The wifi worked fine and there were good views from the roof terrace.

This is not a hotel but more like an apartment accomodation with a few rooms in a large building. The main lobby men couldn't really speak English and told me the reception was on the 11the floor. After 20 minutes of lugging my bags around I found reception was on the 2nd floor in a small room in tower B. There were no signs. Neilson at reception was rather friendly with good English. The room itself was a bit dated, no hair dryer, safe was jammed door and my main door catch was a bit dodgy, with a loose screw needing tightening daily otherwise I couldn't shut the door, but overall was fine for my short stay. Neilson booked me a taxi for my departure who showed up promptly. The breakfast was bread and cereal with juice and milk in fridge. There was a supermarket accross the street too. Was not bad but not great either

Good/great position in the city. Has a good supermarket right across the road. Plenty of shops and streets vendors all around and a good selection of restaurants very nearby On arrival we gave our paperwork to the gentleman at the entrance reception and he called the BMB manager down. We were then taken to the BMB office on the second floor for check in. Very efficient and friendly check in. However we were slightly early and our room wasn’t ready so he kindly held our cases until 2.30pm when we could have our room We were escorted to our room on the 9th floor in the C block where the housekeeper was waiting. Unfortunately we don’t speak Spanish and she didn’t speak a word of English so the welcome was lost on us completely. We were disappointed with the room. Although it’s serviceable it’s very basic. The kitchen area had a fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster and a two ring hob. You would find it very difficult to cook anything, only one tiny frying pan and one pot supplied, nothing for the microwave and no cooking utensils at all! The breakfast is left in the fridge daily (bread, spread, jam, milk, juice). However if you don’t use what’s there it’s not replaced/topped up. The couple of tea bags supplied on day one never got replaced at all. Thankfully the supermarket has good opening hours The portable air conditioning was a floor standing fan that we kept on high speed all the time and it really didn’t bring the temperature down just move the air around ( I saw 37.4 degrees recorded on the street display!) the room was unbearably hot all of the time Good powerful shower, but again very basic bathroom, not even a shelf to put anything on. Liquid soap, shampoo and conditioner was supplied We tried to call the 24hr reception from the room phone several times but couldn’t get any connection at all (BMB reception was in a different block), apparently they allow a 10 min telephone call the Europe for free. Good included wi fi I think there are 30 floors in all and on top is a swimming pool for the use of. Its very clean but very shallow (lovely and cold though). Excellent views over the city from the pool area From what I could see this place has residential apartments and flats as well as holiday apartments. We could hear dogs barking out in the hall at times Overall it was ok and met our needs just about for three days. It really needs air con though and the room in my opinion was not 4 star as it was sold to us by our travel agent more 2 star

Room was unclean air con was a fan, breakfast (if you can call it that) was in a smelly fridge. Would NOT recommend. Location is not bad but would only be suitable for people who are not fussy and just looking to get their heads down for the night. There are no luxuries here.

Although the staff was very helpful (Nelson and Rafael), the apartment is very small, towels are not so clean, some were torn. Sheets were not changed after 3 days, the maid turn them around. No air conditioning and Santiago is hot during the spring / summer. Breakfast is very simple, some slices of bread, you will have yougurt, juice, milk, butter and jam in the small refrigerator. WIFI was working, the rooms were poorly cleaned during the stay, that lasted only 3 days. Not recommended.

We arrived at the lobby and a letter was waiting for us with the key to our room and all the instructions. Since then, we had 100% privacy and comfort, without the need to worry about anything. Rooms are clean and room service was very efficient. Our room had a great view of Entel Tower. It`s located beside Passeo Ahumada, which is a great central spot. At the top of the building, there`s a charming swimming pool and an astonishing view of Santiago! I definitely recommend it.
