I have to say that the staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful and that they can keep your luggage in a safe place. Inside, the hotel is charming, it's in an old building, with wooden floor and old furniture, but everything is well conserved so the general impression is good.
Breakfast is served in different areas of the residencial and costs only 1 euro. In the negative side, rooms have no TV, no telephone and no air conditioning or central heating.
To cut a long story short, this is not the best hotel in town, obviously, but, in my opinion, you get a good value for what you pay. I would repeat, no doubt.

The bed was one of the best I've already slept on in all my trips and there was a very good cable tv with countless channels.
Went out that night to discover that everything in Santiago closes surprisingly early for a city that is full of turists but is not a touristic city yet, and it will take some time for the locals to discover what being a touristic city is all about.
Restaurants closed. there was an Italian one on the Libertador Avenue which was still open and the location of the hotel helped a lot at this moment. But I was likely to find another hotel the next day.
The night was good. The room offered security, some confort and a great deal of convenience.
Breakfast was quite disappointing. Most of the places in Santiago offer instant coffee in small bags. Only one kind of bun per client, a small piece of a cake called queque, butter in tablets, a few slices of ham or cheese, I don't remember, jelly in tablets, a cup of yogurt, milk in carton and hot water for "your" tea. Argentinians, Uruguayans, Paraguayans drink "mate" (tea), we Brazilians don't. I don't know about Americans and Europeans, I do know Santiago is crowded with - Brazilians.
I discovered later that the location of the hotel is one of the best one possible in Santiago, really near everything and right beside the Univesity of Chile subway station. Londres-Paris where the hotel is located is a very traditional and safe neighborhood. There are other hotels on the same street. I started getting along well with the hotel staff and they were cool, helpful and like ALL Chileans, kind, polite and really nice people.
The room was cleaned everyday and towels were changed. We walked all day long and in the end, the location of the hotel made things easy, It is just beside the San Francisco Church, one of the city's attractions. A walking distance from the la Moneda Palace, from the Santa Lucia Hill, from the Public library, from the Chile University, from stores, supermarkets, pharmacies and from the Plaza de Armas, Chile's cathedral and all the rest
I fell in love with Santiago and therefore I will be back in 2013, despite the fear of quakes.
I have no doubt I'll stay in the same hotel and I will be glad to have their services and see those people again. if you are looking for a decent budget hotel nestled in the very heart of the city, the residencial Londres is your sound option
In all that time, I have never been treated as rudely and disrespectfully as I was at Residencial Londres. When I forgot to turn my room key in before going out (my fault), the desk clerk became very rude. When I said he did not need to be so rude, he walked aggressively toward me and began mocking me. The situation begin to escalate, so I just went to bed and decided I'd complain to the owner in the morning.
The next morning, I asked the same clerk to speak to the owner. He began verbally abusing me in front of a number off hotel guests, making a number of crude gestures in the process. Another hotel employee came out to watch, doing nothing.
I left without seeing the owner, feeling humiliated, angry, and powerless. When I told the clerk I would at least write letters to the guidebooks, he said he didn't care; they got enough good ratings.
I sincerely hope that a few experiences like that are enough to make people reconsider the high marks they give this place. It is indeed pretty, fairly clean, and well-located. But the staff is quick-tempered, rude, and totally unaccountable.
I love Latin America. I have stayed in plenty of $2 dives from Nicaragua to Patagonia (well, not $2 in Patagonia). So I am used to budget lodgings. So again, let me stress, my stay at Residencial Londres was one of the worst travel experienes of my life.
The reception clerk was ok too, friendly. Upon our leaving, we asked that if we can reserve a room on 2nd or 3rd floor for when we returned to Santiago on the last leg of our trip, because of the noise on the first floor made it impossible for us to sleep. At that point, the clerk told us that wasn't a problem.
Our main beef with this place happened when we returned. This time it was a different clerk. When we told him we had a reservation and who we are, he proceeded to give us the key to our original room. As this point, we told the guy that we explicitly asked for a different room, and he pretty much said we don't know room requests, and told us to go to another hold. His attitude and behaviour was extremely extremely rude.
My friend started arguing with this guy and explainging to him that the other guy said it was all fine before we leave etc. This clerk had the nerve to make hand gestures to say that my friend was just talking too much. Then he said to my friend, "why don't you smile more, you just keep talking and talking. If you don't like it, go to another hotel. We are not the only one in Santiago." Normally, we would have walked out, but we had a long day travelling and I had a stomach flu at that point, so I was in no shape to move around. So we ended up taking the room, planning on moving to another place the next day.
We then went out for some dinner, and when we came back, the original clerk was there, and he appologized, and give us another room. The other room was on the 3rd floor, and had the same problems with cockroaches, lumpy beds. The noise was a bit better, it doesn't start until 8am when they prepare breakfast, and the occassional noise from people using the shared bathroom next door.
All in all, if you don't mind noise, cockroaches, lumpy beds and rude reception clerks, it an alright place to stay in Santiago.

For me all ok, I paid 13 us per one nigth, and stay there.
The rooms are simple, but enough , observed teh price is good.
The service is friendly and helpful, and I loved the cats roaming around the hotel. The location is great, right on the charming cobbled streets of the Paris Londres area, and pretty much as central as you can get.
From the airport I jumped on a bus and got off at the last stop, Los Heroes, and walked to the hotel (maybe 20 mins walk). Don't pay for a taxi, the bus costs something like $1200 pesos!
On previous visits, I have stayed at the nearby Vegas. On the whole, I preferred this, which has a bit more character, is cheaper and better value for money.
Place is a bit disorganized at times, few problems here and there, but the staff tries to correct them. And you will hear noises, for example I could hear the guy next door to me snoring. But it is to be expected with something in this price range.
Breakfast is good...milk, yogurt, cheese, ham, cereal, coffee, juice, etc.
Overall, if you are on a budget in Santiago, you'll be hard pressed to find a better deal.
"Os quartos dos pisos superiores são mais iluminados e com pé direito muito maior. Os quartos do piso inferior são mais escuros (alguns sem janela, inclusive), porém mais silenciosos e tem acesso ao jardim de inverno. Nesse andar o banheiro é coletivo, porém muito limpo em todas as horas do dia!"Read full review
