Hotel is in a great spot, 10 minutes walk from Plaza de Armaz. The staff are great very friendly, rooms are clean, (if a little tired) and the attached bar is excellent with a great atmosphere. Breakfast is simple and adequate, we intend to stay here again on the way back.

No internet at all (none of the wifi routers were connected to the internet). Only got dishonest excuses instead of an apology. Room was run-down and in need of renovation. Much too expensive considering the dilapidated condition.

This place is a total joke. After booking 2 months in advance, I messaged them 5 times w/questions-no response. When I arrived, the front desk clerk stated that the wifi worked well. Lie. I went to my room on the 3rd floor & tried to connect-nothing. Came back down to the lobby. Was able to connect but ran a speedtest on line and was getting barely a handful of mbps. And that was RIGHT by the router/wifi receiver! Clerk FINALLY admitted it didn't really work-naturally after he had already run my CC. I looked up another hotel using my phone which had data, had the clerk call them, confirmed their wifi was sufficient then booked them. Then it took the clerk almost an hour to get a taxi that I demanded Foresta pay for (about $2.50 US was the TOTAL fare!) so I could get to my new hotel. I sent a message via hotels.com to management the next day-of course, no response. I then e-mailed Foresta directly 3 weeks later-no response of course. Finally, I had to chat online w/hotels.com & then have hotels.com call them using a rep offshore since the front desk claimed they don't speak English (they do) since Filipinos speak Spanish. Foresta said they would only give me 1 of 2 nights back & then lied again saying they had NO IDEA how to refund my payment back to my CC. In the end, hotels.com decided to provide actual customer service by crediting back my payment directly by them.

This is my go to hotel in Santiago. You can't beat the location at the foot of Cerro Sta Lucia and the charming and stylish Lastarria neighborhood. I always book an "en suite" room which gives you a nice sitting room along with t your bedroom. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You get a nice breakfast in the morning with a nice view of the city. The rooms could use an updating but for my purposes they are quite adequate and I love the vintage charm. At this point I believe I've stayed in every room over the years. I hope to return again next year

Excellent location in Santiago, very reasonable rates and very friendly service. Our room was very spacious and clean. The style is a bit outdated but has it's charm. The bathroom reminds me of my childhood. Breakfast is served on the 7th floor which gives onto a very pleasant view.

This is my go-to hotel in Santiago. It is like home. It is an older, traditional hotel. I love to book a suite. You can't beat the prices and the location is one of the best in Santiago in my opinion. The Santa Lucia/Lastarria area is the best place to stay - safe, centirc and charming, and plenty of restaurants. They've improved the breakfast.

Hotel is great for those on a budget. Very centrally located across from Cerro Santa Lucia. Latasarria area is around the corner and Plaza de armas and city cente 10 mins walk way. Reception staff very pleasant and helpful with english. Breakfast was ok, its not a buffet, but fine. Room is old fashioned and was cold the days i was there, in particular the bathroom. Shower was not great either. But plenty of blankets on bed!! All in all location hard to beat.

I stumbled into it upon my second day in Santiago when I knew I had to change neighborhoods from the party-zone Bella Vista to a quieter more suitable location and after reviewing four or five on the streets, directly by walking in and asking to be shown around decided that this was my place for the next two nights, the length of my stay in Santiago before leaving for Rapa Nui. I believe this neighborhood is the Zona Artiste where in some weird way, as an actor, I fit right in. The staff was patient, competent and kind, upgraded me the second night to a front facing suite and were as helpful and understanding as possible, my Spanish is limited but we made ourselves understood. I am usually a two or star traveler, it's my "comfort zone" when I'm paying and this cozy, castle by the park off a main drag was exactly my speed. If I ever return to Santiago (I could do without the Nazi memorabilia at the flea market) I'd come right back to Hotelara Foresta, no doubt.

I stayed 5 nights in April 2018 while attending a conference at a nearby university. This small hotel has a worn feel to it--but I found it very clean, polite, and safe. There was a window AC and also radiators, but with the nice weather, I just opened the window or shut it as needed. Plenty of hot water and decent water pressure. I had a small suite with a sitting room, bedroom, and bath. I gave it five stars not because everyone would like it (it is not for luxury travelers or for travelers who prefer standard modern hotel rooms), but because it is a great deal and a great place to stay if you prefer "character" to standard modern hotels. 0 The location is excellent: near two city parks and a couple of universities, and an easy walk to a variety of museums, shopping, restaurants, etc.

We stayed at this hotel twice, once for five days and re-booked it for two more days after we returned from a short trip to the south. The hotel is ideally located in front of Santa Lucia Hill, which offers a good view of the city from a lookout at the top, and is within walking distance of almost all the main atrractions downtown. It is also located near two metro stations, Universidad Católica and Santa Lucia, which offer access to the main bus station for trips to Valparaiso and even the airport. The hotel itself is comfortable and clean. Some of the rooms are like suites, with separate areas for sleeping and for sitting down and watching TV. Air conditioning and heating are also available, although we needed neither. Breakfast is offered on the seventh floor, and although there is little variety, it is filling and the view of the hill is good. There is also a bar on the ground floor, which can be a little noisy but is quite cosy and very popular. The hotel restaurant also offers food for a good price, although we didn't try it as we were out most of the time. The reception staff was friendly and helpful--ask for a map of the city so you know where to walk. The only complaint I have about the place is that the cleaners didn't change our hand towels the first five days we were there, nor did we always have two bath towels. The liquid soap didn't suds up much, and we needed a refill the last two days of our first stay but didn't get one. Apart from this, the hotel was delightful and we would definitely return here.
