I loved the Hotel Cumbres Lastarria. The neighborhood is terrific and the rooms were very nice. (I had also considered staying in Bellavista, but was very happy about my Lastarria decision!) Breakfast was delicious and in a beautiful room. What makes me so effusively love this hotel is the staff! I, like many others I've since heard of, had the pleasure of having my cell phone stolen - out of my hand - on day 1 in Chile and at that point, I hadn't yet met up with my tour. The staff was AMAZINGLY helpful, kind and supportive. Augustine, as well as his colleagues, were truly wonderful. I don't know what I would have done without them!

This hotel is situated in the perfect location in the Lastarria neighbourhood. Some fantastic restaurants steps from the front door and a great bakery too if you are not into buffet breakfast (the one provided by the hotel was good though). Hotel staff were very helpful and accommodating. The room was spacious and very clean. Definitely would recommend if travelling to Santiago.

Overall, this was a comfortable hotel. The best parts were the location and helpful staff. The location is in the midst of lots of restaurants, cafes and shops as well as street performers and people selling arts and crafts. We enjoyed exploring the area. Saint Lucia Hill is only minutes away and offers great views of the city. (Though be careful, the steep and uneven steps can be treacherous.) The bed was comfortable, wifi good--though one has to log in frequently--water pressure good and the room was quiet. Staff were helpful when we asked about restaurants and directions. Breakfast was okay. Nothing special. The coffee from the carafes was not very good, however, there is a machine that makes decent coffee. Not aware of a hotel restaurant or bar. Whenever we walked by the entry area the bar was always empty of people--customers or staff. We never asked about it as there are great restaurants closeby. The negatives were very dim lighting in the room and the "open concept" bathroom which consists of semi-opaque glass between shower and toilet and a semi-opaque glass partition between bathroom area and bed area. In other words, there is very little privacy.

The hotel is centrally placed in a vibrant street with restaurants and a museum virtually next door. However, this is largely theoretical if your full day in Santiago is a Sunday as it all closes down around 4pm on those days and some bars and restaurants remain closed all day. The museum next door was also closed on Sundays and Mondays. Even the hotel's own restaurant or cafe was not open during our stay. The hotel itself was fine. Fairly bland but comfortable. There is a small but popular pool terrace that is pleasant but can get crowded. Buffet Breakfast was good and staff were helpful. Takeaway bag breakfast for an early start was not however edible with a stale limp sandwich and no cutlery to eat the yoghurt or fruit tub, not in the bag and not even downstairs in the executive lounge. The staff warned us not to be in the street when it was dark but during the day it felt safe and we walked around with no issues.

I read reviews of many hotels in Santiago looking for a 2 night stay after flying in from London and eventually chose Cumbres Lastarria. We were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived we felt so well looked after. Our room was quiet & very comfortable & the hotel’s location is excellent. When you leave the tranquillity of the hotel you walk out onto a safe bohemian street full of the best bars/restaurants/coffee shops. It was all quite perfect for us & I’m so glad we decided to stay at Cumbres Lastarria.

This hotel is in the midst of one of Santiago's most lively areas. There is all sorts of restaurants and cafés, wine bars and music clubs. Based on our experience the hotel largely benefits from this neighbourhood... Apart from that I cannot consider it a 5* accommodation. Restaurant: We had arrived at 7:45 pm - exhausted and hungry after a long day with two flights. According to the receptionist the restaurant would close at 9 pm. In fact, there were no guests when we tried to have dinner (shortly after 8 pm) and the waiter informed us that they were about to shut down at 8:30 pm! ------ At least we got a good restaurant recommendation from the receptionist... Buffet Breakfast: Average quality, not much variety; lots of sweet stuff; poor quality of juices. Acceptable for a 3* hotel... Service: Among the breakfast staff there was a waiter with a most unfriendly attitude. It was a buffet anyway and he had nothing to do but clear and reset the tables. But he was so hectic and after announcing that the buffet would close in the next 10 minutes literally pulled away the plate from under the nose of a guest sitting next to us with knife and fork still in his hands. He showed a sourness whenever we came across him... Coming back to our room one afternoon after 5 hours it had not yet been cleaned. We did not mind as we intended to leave again after changing clothes. I had just taken the "Make up my room" sign back inside for the time being when housekeeping knocked at the door. I told the lady that the room would be hers in 10 minutes. She was not amused and she showed it by pulling a face... While a friendly face may only be desirable politeness is a must. Superior Room on the 7th floor: Sufficiently spacious, comfortable bed. Average interior. We disliked the open "bathroom" concept. No feeling of privacy! On the positive side the hotel surprised us with a large ham and cheese platter with nuts and grapes and a bottle of red wine. We found it on the table when returning from dinner on arrival day. A nice surprise and a nice gesture... It turned out that we were in for this treat as our itinerary included two further Cumbres hotels. A nice gesture for sure. But how were we supposed to enjoy it after a superb meal at an outside restaurant? If only the receptionist would have told us that there was no need to leave the hotel for dinner... Sorry - but we did not feel "at home" there.

The important things are this: 1)This hotel is located on a nice street with lots of locals and tourists walking up and down it. It felt safe. There are TONS of good food options, coffee shops and ice cream shops along this street. There are street vendors but not as many "shops". It is a charming street (not a busy street) mostly pedestrian traffic, but also our Uber could pick us up right outside the door. The hotel is also located about 1.5 blocks from the Catholic University (red line) subway stop.2)This hotel was CLEAN with BEAUTIFUL spaces. The breakfast was GOOD (not average, not fantastic-but the best of four hotels during our stay.)3)The front desk is bi-lingual and extremely helpful with anything you'd like to ask.We appreciated their professionally and kindness. We had a late international flight (midnight) back to the States, and they held our luggage, we could use the hotel facilities including the pool and the small changing room/shower in the gym for the rest of the day. This was really helpful. Several of the guests hung out at the lovely rooftop pool awaiting our flights. Also our room came with two free bottles of water in the in-room refrigerator.4) Comfortable bed and multiple types of pillows, two working elevators-very quick wait time- and nice hot water in an overhead rain shower.

A small boutique hotel in the artistic area of Lastarria. There’s a craft market just outside and many cafes bars and restaurants nearby. Adequate room with all you need, not huge. Good bed It was quiet when I was there and the bar on ground and dining room on 8th were closed (weekend for my stay) Close to the Centre of town and at the price this is fine

An excellent stay in Santiago. Great location in a vibrant area with lots of restaurants and bars within a 5 minute walk. Safe to walk at night. The rooms were well appointed and spacious and excellent showers though not sure why the towels were kept in the toilet rather than accessible from the shower. Breakfast was amazing with abundant choice and good location on the 8h floor looking out over the neighbourhood. Many thanks to Daniel on the front desk for his helpful input into getting to Cerro Santa Lucia and also using the Hop on Hop off bus. It saved us so much time. He was also very accommodating when we had to cancel our tour to Valparaiso due to the fires.

Great location, service, cleanliness, pool, security, and overall comfort. Pablo at the front desk was particularly helpful to our group with many questions/requests on check in and check out. We stored our luggage all day after checkout due to a late flight back to the US. The staff were helpful in giving us access to the pool/gym/showers so that we could fully use our last day in Santiago.
