Alberto, the owner, was a fantastic host. He showed us a great walking tour of the cerro (hill) that was not too difficult for my husband's senior parents and aunt who can't walk up or down steep hills. He noted some great places to eat, also, and we had a fantastic dinner that night. The next morning he called 2...

Alecon is more of a budget hotel than a hostel. There's no kitchen, and the "common area" is more of a tiny dining room where breakfast is served. It was pretty clean and cheap for Valparaiso. The bathrooms are sort-of clean, the toilet smears were re-smeared every day. Mattresses are good and clean sheets and towels are nice. There's a...

My dear guests. Thank you so much your kind sincere comment. We know we need to improve many, many things, some of them we do feel sad the way it´s almost impossible to achieve. Our house is more than a hundred years old and our profit isn´t enough to fight the very strict national monuments council rules to restore it....

The rooms are very colourful, cosy and spotless clean. Breakfast and Wi-Fi are included and there is a cable TV in the room. The owner (he speaks English fluent) and his family are very helpful and extremely cordial. He provides his guests with insider tips and funny stories about the city. We had a wonderful time there.

A good, clean hostel with a central location close to many things. Alberto the owner is very knowledgable and does love his city, however he has a tendency to talk and talk and talk. All his information is good, only found a couple things that seemed inaccurate (he said the Ambassador of Finland stayed there ... OK, maybe in 1880!)....

As experienced, mature, independent travellers we were privileged to spend a wonderful week at Alecon. We were picked up from the bus station by Alberto, and over coffee, given accurate and relevant information on all aspects of the city. Alberto is a mine of information, loves his city, and nothing is too much trouble. He even went to great lengths...

We stayed here for 4 nights even though we only meant to stay two. The beds were very comfortable, the rooms cleaned every day & we had access to the computer whenever we wanted. The 20000 pesos a night included breakfast. Our host was very friendly and shared his enthusiasm for Valparaiso with us at every opportunity even drawing out...

Alecon Fine Hostel is perfectly located in the beautiful area of Cerro Concepcion. All the nice walkways and many good restaurants are in very short distance of the hostel. You can easily wander around the walkways and go on a ride with the famous old elevators in a few minutes. Besides you will get firsthand information on where to go...

Stayed here for three nights in June. Good clean quiet rooms. Location is amazing and Alberto is a superb host. His advice and maps are fantastic for exploring the city. He even helped us plan for the rest of our time in chile. Highly recommended.

We stayed in valpariso a little longer than planned due to this hostel, although more of a b&b. Alberto gave us such a good history of the two places, valpariso and vina del mar that we wanted to stay a little more. It's in a really quiet location on conception hill it's worth the steep walk up. Breakfast is adequate,...

Alecon Fine Hostel is THEE hostel in Valparaiso. The owner is the best! My husband and I were only in town for 3 days and we literally saw everything thanks to the self-guided walking tours that the owner provided us. The location is perfectly centralized to view the city as a tourist and as a local. Restaurants, bars and cafes...
