Our top (third) floor room with a large corner window gave us a spectacular view, day and night, of the city. Very friendly staff, including the owner, Claudio, were very helpful explaining how to travel around the city on foot and by public transit. Secure gated parking on-site. Good breakfast. Very clean rooms and public areas. Wifi worked very well....

The hotel isn't that easy to find and after driving around Valparaiso for over an hour we had to park up to actually find it. It's not that welcoming from the outside as a big gate and a huge slope and set of stairs have to be negotiated before you actually see reception. The room we were allocated was small...

The 3 night stay probably didn't get off to the best start when we were given a room that either hadn't been cleaned and/or was possibly occupied by someone else. A new room was quickly allocated but this was also quite cramped and shabby. for example, the bedside light had a broken plug, shower hanging off the wall, paint in...

If you are looking for something authentic with a great (if not the best) view in town and with the possibility to have personal contact with the owner (in Spanish though), Claudio, passionate on his country and the history of how he made this great place an hotel, well this place is for you ! This is a very nice...

We passed our weekend with my wife at this great antique hotel and had a great time. Walking distance from great restaurants and atractions. The owner was always present and focused in giving great service. Awsome breakfast in a terrace with a beautiful view of valparaiso bay. Very quiet and pleasant stay!

I can't say enough about SH. The staff was extremely helpful and were willing to work with our flexible schedule--early check-in and late check-out. The breakfast was very good with only the freshest fruits. The best thing about SH is the view. Also, it is about a 10 minute walk to many restaurants. It is up in Cerro Alegre and...

Great views of the harbor, fun to walk to different places from the hotel or take advantage of the mini-bus stop right there at the hotel. Very nice breakfast and wonderful and helpful staff. The staff is always around very helpful for any questions

Great location, with an amazing view of the harbour. Small, but clean rooms and lovely staff. There are a lot of stairs, so keep that in mind when bookings. From Sutherland House we were able to walk to Pablo Neruda's historical home and to the downtown core, though I would suggest taking a taxi instead. Wish we could have stayed...

Stayed here twice now. Both times the owner has been around and very friendly. You get a welcome drink to enjoy when you arrive. Good clean room. Great friendly service, and the owner has 3 or 4 secure car spaces which is always a bonus in Valparaiso. We stayed in 201 which has a lovely balcony overlooking the city and...

Noisy floor hotel with small rooms, a lot of stairs without elevator, and no garage! At the moment of check in, the owner told us to leave the car on the front door that he would park it later that night on his garage. I gave him the car Keys. He gave us a lot of chat at that time,...
