I stayed at dawns lodge on 3 or 4 occasions in October and November, in between trips to Peru, cuyabena, mindo and the Galapagos. It is a nice old house and the rooms are spacious. It is a very safe place to stay as the family is always home to let you in. A filling breakfast is provided each morning,... More

Jumbo Lodging, otherwise known as Dawn's Lodge, is an excellent hostel in the San Blas neighborhood. The location is great, the building is safe, and the price is unbeatable. More than anything, though, I can't say enough about the proprietor, Luis. He consistently went above and beyond to ensure that our stay in Quito was the best it could be.... More

We had two nights in this hostel. We arrived late on the first night and departed at 4am after our second night. I cannot stress enough how great a host Luis is. Luis made our arrival and departure extremely easy and booked a taxi to the airport for us (at a great price) when our pre-booked taxi didn't show up.... More

We booked one night at Dawn's Lodge or Jumbo Lodging for our first night in Quito. Typically we do so to look for a better place to stay during that first day, but we did not even look further! Luiz is the most welcoming host we've met during or travels. On top of some good advice on visiting the city... More

Dawns Lodge is in a great location and Luis was very welcoming and helpful giving us lots of information. He even offered to walk us to the bus stop to make sure we got on the right bus. Breakfast was superb especially the coffee from his farm. Room was large and clean.

We stayed 3 nights in Jumbo (Dawn's) Lodge on our first visit to Quito and Ecuador. We certainly can echo the sentiments of other reviewers on the exceptional hospitality offered by the owner Luis and his family offered during our stay. Having limited Spanish vocabulary, we appreciated Luis's short tutorials over a delicious home cooked breakfast and he certainly goes... More

I recently stayed 5 nights at Dawn's Lodge. Located in Old Quito and within walking distance to many of the places to visit in Old Quito. Luis, the owner, and his family are very welcoming and go out of their way to make you comfortable. Luis went above and beyond helping to flag down taxis and actually accompanied me to... More

I gave this a 5 star because the service by the owner, Louis, and his family was absolutely outstanding. He helped us flag down and instruct safe cabs, made calls to Spanish speaking businesses in our behalf, walked us to the bus stop to catch the right bus, walked us to the right stores for our specialty gift buying needs,... We had a very nice stay at this hostel and actually came back twice during our trip to Ecuador. The owner, Luis, was extremely friendly and helpful. Whatever we liked to do while in Quito and in planning trips to other places, he presented us with all of our options, told us which buses to take and even drew small... More
