Chez Elena is run by a family - with son Dario the Engish speaking coordinator, Elena- the mom and cook, and the father who provided the art for this totally cool looking place. Dario is very very pleasant and eager to help figure out any questions you have. Elena is happy and engaging and seemed to go above and beyond...

We feel as though we made friends in Quito while spending our first 4 days in Ecuador. Dario and his parents treated us like their family. Dario speaks perfect English and he was available for phone calls from the taxis who brought us to this quiet neighborhood outside of the center city ($5, maybe more if there is an accident...

My wife and I stayed 4 nights here in June and it was one of the best stays we have had anywhere. Paco and Elena are the best hosts and make you feel like family. Paco picked us up from the airport after our flight changed from 5:30pm to 10pm and then didnt actually get in until 2am, he was...

The hosts were generous and accommodating. The food and Cafe con leche was delicious. The beds were very comfortable. Transpiration was coordinated for us on site. We were able to travel to the coast via a van for a reasonable price. Although not central this hotel was located in a quiet neighbourhood.

Chez Elena Review (Quito, Ecuador: 15 June- 6 September 2014) If you are going to stay in Quito, Ecuador, there is no question that you should stay at the Chez Elena guesthouse/hotel. This is family-ran accommodation and is much better than the impersonal experience you would get at a hotel. We stayed long-term and a weekly cleaning service was provided....

FAMILY run guesthouse, mostly French people. Extra courteous, and very kind. They worked real hard to make our stay comfortable. Be prepared to share bathrooms, there are many for their guesthouse of 24..it is on a bus route, and you can get to the Middle of the Earth for less than a dollar.

If you are looking for a true Ecuadorian experience run by a wonderful family (Elena's family) and not a classic Hilton/Holiday Inn westernized lodging, I would highly recommend a stay at Chez Elena Guesthouse. Since they opened the new airport in Quito, Ecuador, the taxi from the airport is about a 45 minute drive and should cost you about $25US...

The family is amazing, and their heartfelt attention is something you can't experience at a large hotel. Great value for the money, but more importantly, a nice connection to the people and culture of Ecuador, especially the artistic aspects of Ecuador.
