The first time I stayed here it was really good, albeit only for a few hours. The second time I stayed it was awful. I left at 9:00pm to go to another hotel and I had to wait for 'permission' to leave. I couldn't even have a shower because they didn't provide towels and had no idea where I could...

I chose this hostel because i'm traveling with a Van and this is the only one with a parking in the city center that i found. To sleep in the car there i had to paid 7usd ( when you know that they have dorm bed for 8usd, it's expensive), then add 5 dollars to be autorise to park the...

Over the course of 10 weeks in ecuador on a gap year with 20 other people, we visited this hostel several times- both starting and ending in this awesome hostel. The rooms are always spotless clean, the communal areas are always quiet and clean and have a nice atmosphere. There's a TV room with many DVDs available to watch, in...

Beautiful terrace. Felt safe. Hot water worked well in showers. Free drinking water near the reception area was a huge plus. Bathrooms on every floor. Decent wifi on terrace and common area. Stayed here for four nights. Some staff spoke English. Nice place.

Came there about 9pm with my two friends. We asked to be put in the cheapest room and got told 10,5$ Next morning we talked to a guy who was in a room to 8$ and had 5 free beds in it that night. Besides that they promised hot water in the room we were put in. No hot water...

We had a very good experience here. The family is so kind and helpful. The prices are ok, but if you want to use the kitchen you have to pay U$ 1,00 extra! The wi-fi is very bad in most of the rooms (we tried!). Great view of the downtown in the rooftop! The location is not so safe at...

I visited Guayunga hostel with school in February. We had such a great stay, the showers have hot water and the beds are very cozy. On the top, where you can buy amazing smoothies and lots of other good food, there is an incredible view over Quito. You can see the panecillo, the gothic cathedral, and all the beautiful mountains.

To start with the good, the staff is very helpful and friendly. The location is good to visit the old town of Quito. There is a kitchen, a computer and a tv-room. From the roof top terrace you have a nice view on Quito. The price we payed for a double room with shared bathroom seemed to be exaggerated, as...

First: I don´t know about the other rooms at this property, just the ensuite room at ground level, room number 1. As someone else wrote, there´s the property´s parking lot just one meter outside/in front of the door. About four or five cars came and went during our stay, meaning quite a lot of noise and exhaustion from the cars....

I stayed at this hostel twice between the end of November and beginning of December 2014, and I will be returning again in preparation for my flight to the Galapagos. Pros: - Very comfortable atmosphere. Privacy is easy to find when needed, and the social areas are usually very relaxed. Both the family and staff are very friendly and are...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Guayunga hostel! Guayunga opened its doors 30 years ago, starting as a small guesthouse. In 2010, a restoration project was in place to convert the guesthouse into a Hostel. Guayunga hostel is strategically located at the heart of the historical Quito. Quito was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the 1970s for having the best preserved and least altered historic center in Latin America. Becerra Garzón’s family, the founders of Guayunga Hostel started off with the dream of creating a place where travelers from all over the world would feel welcome and could interact. Over the years, they have learned more about the wishes and desires of the international traveler, which of course is more than just a bed and a shower. ... more   less
