We just came back from Ecuador and enjoyed our stay at Sierra Madre Hotel in Quito. We were there for two nights prior to our Galapagos excursion and one night after. Yes, the hotel is old but that is what gives it charm and beauty. We had hot showers (just give it time to warm up) and comfy beds. The...

Hugely helpful staff! We stayed for one night, the staff carried our luggage and gave us help with travel plans for that afternoon and the next day. The hotel is centrally located and it is easy to walk to the Plaza Foch. Breakfast is simple but well prepared. The rooms have handpainted designs on the walls and 5 of the...

This hotel was used by our tour group and we stayed two nights with the group and then one additional night. Staff were very nice and helpful and all the desk staff spoke English. Rooms were pleasant. We had one dinner here and it was fine, but not exceptional. Breakfast was decent with juice, coffee, rolls, jam and some cheese...

Friendly staff, artistically decorated rooms, updated bathrooms, delicious tropical breakfast, etc. The staff carried our luggage up 3 flights of stairs - they were extremely dedicated. Most of the staff spoke English (I speak Spanish but there were a number of German tourists who needed to communicate in English) and were very accommodating. Great place to stay!

We had the nicest of the 13 rooms. It is the one featured in the web site. It was comfortable and the hotel is within walking distance of many restaurants. Twice we had to ask for the water to be turned on so we could shower. Once the hall lights would not turn on. During rains the roof leaked in...

We staid there for a night. It is close to some restaurants and dance places. I could hear some music at night, but It sounded far from us. Not a surprise it was a Saturday in Latin America. The staff is very friendly and bilingual. It was very clean. The bed was comfy. Breakfast was not included in the price.

We stayed here either side of a trip to the Galapagos and found it to be better than previous reviews suggest. The two different rooms we had (2 and 13) were very spacious with good clean facilities and nice hot showers. The only fault was the rather poorly designed shower rail which fell down. The breakfasts were OK (buffet with...

I decided to stay at this beautiful, colonial style hotel in order to be closer to New Town on New Year's Eve. It is a nice hotel, with well appointed rooms, each with comfortable beds, wood floors and big windows. Unfortunately, the pipes burst when I was in the shower, just minutes after I arrived that evening. Unfortunately, the plumbing...

My wife and I stayed for a total of 4 nights (split either side of our Galapgos tour) at the Sierra Madre this December. We stayed in rooms 11 and 13. While I can agree with other reviewers that the staff are friendly and the hotel has a local "charm", I'm not sure I can agree in other aspects of...

My husband and I enjoyed this charming hotel. It has a lovely dining room and a roof top terrace. Our room was spacious enough to accommodate 4 hugh suitcases plus 4 smaller ones, and we still weren't cramped. Everything was super clean. The staff went out of their way to help us get settled and they even called a taxi...
