The renovated rooms in the renovated building away from the street are very quiet. Staff provides excellent service. The hostal has a dining room and kitchen and the have room service. Menu del dia is $3.00 for lunch. The evening meals we had were very good, very large, reasonably priced and it was surprising to us that more people don't...

The room was a good size for me and my girlfriend. The hotel staff was completely amazing. They offered great services and things to do while in the city that were phenomenal. The hostess was like a second mother to us. They gave us advice and even called locations that our taxi was taking us to make sure that we arrived...

Hacienda style inn. Very friendly. Continental, simple breakfast and Ecuadorean lunch served. No dinner, but staff recommends good restaurants. WiFi and TV work well. An alarm clock would be nice. I had a problem with no hot water one morning but it was fixed quickly. Property is kept in good condition even though it is on a very busy street....

We spent 2 nights in this pretty hotel and were treated extremely well. While we were in Cuenca, our credit card got hacked by someone in a restaurant. We had no access to cell phone service while in Ecuador, so the kind people at Calle Angosta let me use their phone for numerous, very prolonged conversations with our credit card...

Calle Angosta is among the best hostals we stayed during our trip to Ecuador on January 2014. It is about 6 blocks away from the main square but since we had a rented car, having a safe place to park was very important. The façade does not represent the inside. We spent 3 nights in room #2 which was beautifully...

After reading reviews on TripAdvisor for Calle Angosta, I made the booking prior to an October visit to Cuenca. I was to be staying in Cuenca for two nights, one night on either end of a three-day trek through nearby Cajas National Park. As such, sleep was important given the physical exertion expected at such a high altitude. Previous reviewers...

Calle Angosta Hotel is a few blocks from the main square and indeed almost everything worth visiting in Cuenca. While Cuenca has its charms, mostly from old residences lining the streets downtown and the river walk at the bottom of the hill, it leaves something to be desired as a top destination in Ecuador. The touted churches are newish or...

We moved to this hotel after staying a couple of nights in Hostal Macondo, which was fully booked the third night. Both hotels are fully recommendable, though Calle Angosta is a little more expensive (48$ for a double room, private bathroom, breakfast included, against 40$ in Macondo). In exchange for the price difference, rooms in Calle Angosta are bigger, brand...

With tax, we paid $58 a night which was our priciest stay in the hostal communities of Ecuador. Having said that, the rooms are newly refurbished with very comfortable mattresses, pillows, and I had the first bathtub --can you say great soaks--in Ecuador. We were in room 4 which was spacious and clean, though a through fare to the back...

Just spent three nights in this hostal with our kids, great stay, good location near all historical sites, comfortable and clean rooms, friendly staff (Mariela and her wonderful customer contact, lovely owners very present), I would return without a doubt.

“Rooms close to Reception have people passing thru the courtyard, talking, slamming doors and looking in your window. I suggest the rooms in the building beyond the parking lot. Front doorbell rings in Reception and can be heard thru the night and early morning in nearby rooms.”

“We stay on the main building; there are rooms on the back, across the parking lot. The building seems to be new and the rooms are provably more modern and less noise. We were happy with our room and did not visit that building.”

“Get a room to the rear of the property, take advantage of the breakfasts and cheap beer, and be gracious to Gloria and her family. Calle Angosta is their pride and joy.”
