My wife and I had an outstanding three night visit to this charming little hotel. Initially we had planned on only two nights. It is centrally located, exceedingly clean, and the proprietors are wonderfully helpful. Best of all were the amazing breakfasts.

On cobble-stone streets, only a few blocks from the ancient city center, Casa San Rafael was pure old world charm! Family prepared breakfasts included. A special kindness was displayed when I was ill the morning of our departure. They just 'made us stay' and rest, until our late evening flight to Quito. We came home tired, but woke up smiling.

I had originally booked for 3 nights and loved this charming hotel so much I chose to add on a 4th night. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the location in Old Town close to the main plaza couldn't be topped. It's not possible to say enough glowing things about this boutique hotel!

The hotel décor is lovely and the amenities and service excellent. The bed was large and comfortable and the bathroom excellent with toiletries and a hot, refreshing shower. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful.

Cuenca is a delightful old city. Its buildings from the colonial era or of the colonial style make it what it is. How delightful, then, to be able to stay in one of these gems close to the centre of the main sights. Casa San Rafael is such a place, a five-minute walk from the main square and the cathedrals....

Stayed here for 2 nights.... I am a bit torn in rating this place as it's got so many positives. Great service /decor /location /breakfast... But after driving a long way from Quito we were booked into one of the rooms 207 at the back of the hotel. The room was tiny, and I mean TINY, no windows and the...

This little boutique hotel looks very unassuming from the outside (and nothing like the photo on the web site) but once inside the lobby it's really charming. The decor is like a cross between a tea parlor and an old church - but in a very tasteful, lovely way. The staff was very helpful and made us feel very welcome....

The staff could not have done anything more to make our stay at their hotel and our time in Cuenca. The presentation was immaculate. Breakfast was very comprehensive. The location was in the old part of town and well placed to tour the sights of the city.

This small hotel was a perfect blend of charm and service. It was like finding a small jewel in a beautiful city of 600,000 plus people. No need for a car because the lovely historic part of Cuenca was within walking distance for shopping, sight seeing and dining. If you were not aware of where you really were it felt...
