This was my 2nd stay at a Selena Hostel while in Peru. Like at the Selena Hostels in Peru, this hostel had lots of cool features and was decorated really nicely. We had a private room but without a bathroom. We got off our Peru Hop at 4am in Arequipa and checked with the front desk to see if there is any possibility of checking in earlier, there was not, however, they did show us the movie room (which has built in sofas) and told us we could stay there. We left our backpacks in the storage room in the main office and went to rest in the movie room. We ended up knocking out in the movie room, it was very dark in there and comfy. We didn't wake up until 11am. So grateful that the staff showed us to the movie room. pros: This hostel is in close proximity to the main town square, has a large outdoor area, has a pool, resturant/bar and con: customer service is not great.

My two companions and I decided to stay at Selina because we had already stayed in other facilities of this chain of hostels in Central and South America. As a frequent customers, we decided to stay in Selina instead of Le Foyer, that caught our attention. The facilities in Selina Arequipa are beautiful and the restaurant staff attended us exceptionally. However, the next day we had several situations; In the morning the cleaning staff entered the room without knocking on the door and opened the bathroom door while my son was getting dressed, luckily he had his underwear already on, otherwise they would have seen him NAKED. During my bath, the cold water flow disappeared, leaving only the flow of hot water, leaving me only with the option of finishing my bath in the sink. When brought the situation to the attention of the staff at the reception, Rosa and the Chilean Chilenean Girl with the long long hair and clear eyes (do not remember her name) just looked at their computers. Unfortunately in this Selina you only represent a dollar sign, customer service is not their forte; So you're a traveler who doesn't need anyone's assistance and you just want to enjoy the pool, read a book, enjoy the cinema, and things you can do at home on your own, this is your place.

Upon arriving early morning from an exhausting night bus ride, I've discovered at the check-in counter that there will be no water available in the showers and toilets for the duration of my stay. Obviously I've decided to leave, but Selina charged the full amount from my deposit credit card claiming "no-show"! Totally unacceptable behavior from a worldwide "reputable" company.

Stayed 2 nights at the Selina Arequipa, and enjoyed it! The hostel has a pool and many comfy areas to chill in. (Also a happy hour from 12 to 5pm is enjoyable!) We ended up going to the Selina in Cuzco as well since we liked it so much.
