This was the best place we stayed in our whole trip in Peru - Lima, Nazca, Cusco, Aguas Calientes, Arequipa and half a dozen more places. The atmosphere is unique. This is probably the thing we liked most. You cannot find this in many places. The service of the whole staff was extremely professional - made us feel so welcomed I had a feeling I'm visiting and old friend of mine :). The cleanliness of the rooms was without compromise. I really cannot think of a single thing I would recommend to be improved - everything was just perfect. The location is only one kilometer from the main plaza - a perfect walk after dinner. Admirations to the whole crew! Would visit you again if we have a chance!
we were here under special circumstances (outbreak of coronavirus) but found a safe haven in crazy times here in posada nueva españa. it is a beautiful colonial building with two courtyards and a sunny patio. the rooms are spacious with great showers (good pressure and hot water). the hotel is owned by a nice family. friendly receptionist speaks english and was very helpful on arrival. great value overall, recommended!
Good beds -- we slept very well; good shower -- plenty of hot water; the breakfast was also fine -- the usual light "continental breakfast" plus one egg cooked to order. The staff was also quite friendly; all know their way around Arequipa and gave good advice. Oddments are that potable water is not supplied -- you have to go to the store and buy your own. (The hotel also sells bottled water, but at about twice the store price.) The outdoor patio for the breakfast was a little cold in the early morning. And finally, the walk to the Plaza de Armas is indeed 15 minutes, but a brisk 15 minutes with not much but empty streets between the hotel and downtown All in all, a clean, comfortable, newish hostal for a good price. (Others have mentioned that the building is a historic one. That's true, but the rooms in the back patio are relatively new, cement and I imagine cement block construction. One odd thing in the bathroom is that there's a glass shelf just a few inches above the sink for toiletries -- but it blocks half the sink and makes it tough to lean over and wash your face. Not a big enough deal to not recommend the Nueva España, but something the owners might redesign.)…
We had a great time at Nueva Espana. We spent 3 nights in total, but went after the first one for the colca canyon tour. It was no problem to leave the luggage in our room and we did not get extra charged for that night. After we came back, they helped us to book a massage and rafting on the chili river. Very friendly service and the breakfast on the terrace was a great start in the day!
The room was basic but comfortable and clean. The breakfast served in the terrace was good- fruit, bread, coffee, juice, and eggs. Hostal location is good, 10 min walk from the Plaza de Armas. The place has a pleasant atmosphere. Few min walk to supermarket. Close to banks ,shopping mall and there are many eating options. beautiful old building . Nice colors on the walls ,flowers around and nice decoration.
