This retreat center has so much integrity! Small numbers of people in the maloka. Individual attention and loads of support. The rooms are clean. The food is very good. The staff is very supportive. The shaman are highly experienced. I felt very held, supported and safe here.
given the fact that Caya Shobo operates in one of the world's poorest countries, they do a remarkable and responsible job with customer service. a few weeks before you arrive, one of their facilitators does a video-chat/medical-screen to ensure that no complications will arise from contraindications. when you do arrive, they have one of their own drivers pick you up (USD$40 fee paid ahead of time) and drive you back to the airport after your stay. what happens at Caya Shobo during your treatment is entirely up to you. you can choose to drink lots of ayahuasca; you can choose to drink very little. you can diet the master plants, including after your stay, or you can avoid them. you can take flower baths, use mapacho, and use the painful repote eyedrops, or you can avoid them. drinking ayahuasca means opening up your body, mind, and soul to new possibilities & fears that one often tries to merely cope with or suppress in every day life. to get the best results, you must walk straight through these fears and accept uncomfortable truths about life. all in all, you can accept fully everything the Shipibo tradition has to offer, or you can hold on to what makes you comfortable. they have food and living facilities for you, but little else, and there is nothing for "entertainment." Caya Shobo claims that the tradition in which the ayahuasca and other plant medicines are provided is of the highest faith to the original traditions performed by the Shipibo people; i cannot independently verify this claim.…
I seldom really take time to review a trip, but Caya shobo deserves however time it takes. I am just back home from my 3rd retreat in 2 consecutive years. This retreat was the most profound one for me. I cannot thank the whole team enough for all the gentle care and support throughout my retreats in the past two years. The rewarding experience didn't end once you left the center. A newbie to psychedelics, I believe I was brought to Caya Shobo during the most intense COVID situation in 2021. The whole journey is beyond description, I didn't even realize how much better off it would be since then. From the very moment Arin contacted me to answer all my questions, I have no doubts THIS IS THE PLACE!!! Bechy and Migual received me with gentle welcomes and open hearts, which is absolutely detrimental to a female solo retreater. The maesters, the facilitators, the supporting team are all helpful whenever you need. The center is full of integrity. This is the place you feel from your heart that they are serving this field, rather than a profitable business. It is my humble hope that the service lasts and the healing spreads. I'd also suggest that a closer shared bathroom nearer to the tree house tambo would be perfect if the team would take into consideration. The current one is just the opposite direction:)…
Caya Shobo is the real deal. The medicine, the maestros, the facilitators, the dietas and the facility itself are top notch. The staff are friendly and super helpful and the food was nourishing and plentiful. My experience was transformative and full of insight and love. I hope to return.
I have been to Caya Shobo before (in 2019) and it was awesome. This time (August 2021) it was even more awesome. Ok, if you expect a five star hotel accommodation you are at the wrong spot. But this is not what Caya Shobo is about. The rooms are basic and clean, the food is perfectly adapted to your needs, nourishing body and soul because prepared with love ❤️. And this is one of the most specific characteristics you will find in Caya Shobo at every turn: Loving care for you. From the drivers who pick you up from the airport by motocar, to the gardeners and cleaners who maintain the grounds and buildings, to the guards who secure the property, to the women who prepare the food - even though you have long left Caya Shobo, you will carry the friendly, heartfelt smiles of all these hardworking people in your heart for a long time to come. On this strong, loving foundation, your soul work can mature to full bloom: Taken in hand by exceptionally competent and trustworthy facilitators, your well-being overseen by an amiable apothecary whose profound knowledge of medicinal plants is second to none, you will be guided into the ceremonies. And here you will meet - and this is the most important point for me - the best of the maestras and maestros, and only those who are exclusively dedicated to healing and helping people. (and not about manipulation and making money, because unfortunately there are such also in this profession). Loving, individual attention in small ceremony groups with the best shamans and compliance to high ethical principles - this is what the owners Beccy and Miguel ensure.…
I always knew a trip to the jungle wasn't going to be a vacation and would in some way or the other shift my life. I had no idea just how much it would shift my sould and how grateful I am to have found this path in life. It took me 2.5 years but I finally had the courage to make the journey down south and face some major internal demons. The moment I got there, I was picked up by the moto + driver and brought straight to Caya Shobo. I was given a very warm welcome, given a detailed tour, and brought to my Tambo to relax. Fresh sheets, a clean towel and candles were waiting for me :) The food was very clean and delicious. Every meal felt so nourishing for the body. The water was clean and tea options plentiful. The staff and facilitator were so kind and made me feel like part of the family. The staff is so knowledgeable about the journey you embark on when you go to the jungle and provided endless support at all hours of the day and night. Since I went alone, having such a caring facilitator was absolutely critical and my healing would not have been as deep if it wasn't for his care and attention to the process. Caya Shobo, specifically Beccy and Miguel, have done an amazing job creating a sanctuary for self-healing and self-love. My experience was pure magic and one that doesn't end here, but really has just begun. Till the next time I see you Caya Shobo - thank you for showing me so much love ❤️…
This most recent visit in February was my three visit in three years. I generally stay for 3 weeks and will be forever grateful I have discovered this center. The staff , volunteers and support system are fantastic. The rooms are clean and fitted with plenty of protection from the elements and the jungle insect and wildlife. The healers are top shelf and I will be returning for many years to come !
I stayed here in early 2018 for two weeks and had 8 ceremonies (my choice) although there were more offered. The hosts were helpful and the room was basic but clean and had bug nets and comfortable beds. The jungle sounds can be a little noisy at times but this healing center is beautiful. One Maestro in particular changed my life and his name is Walter. I have not suffered Seasonal Affective disorder or any depression since my time there and I am saving to go back. I met wonderful people and felt safe as a solo female traveler.
We arrived in Iquitos and there was a man already waiting for us to take us to Caya Shobo. When we arrived at the retreat they immediately showed us our room which was nice and clean with mosquito nets around the beds. They cleaned our rooms and bathroom frequently and made the room up with clean sheets, fresh towels and floor coverings. The food we ate was excellent and was specifically prepared to coincide with the plant diets. There was always enough food to eat. The beds in the Malowka were super comfy with fuzzy comforting blankets. The Malowka was cleaned daily. The Maestro's were exceptionally well gifted in the Icaros and I felt immediate changes when they sang to me or the group. I was diagnosed with Complex PTSD a couple years ago due to child hood trauma, addiction and alot of other trauma along the way. Thanks to the Maestro's at Caya Shobo I have life changing results and have found peace in places I never thought possible. The staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. The othe travelers were all on same healing journey and we got to connect with them on a deeper level if we chose to during sharing time, or our free time. Caya Shobo is a great place to go to heal and we plan on going back as soon as we can. Also, the plants prescribed by the Maestro's have a deep impact on self and you can continue them when you leave. Caya Shobo is a place for healing and heal it does. Thank you for reading, Lisa Eimer…
Our stay at Caya Shobo was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was nice, the food was amazing and the maestros were incredible. Everything was very well organized and the entire property was very secure. We will be returning and would definitely recommend it highly to anyone. Thank you to everyone there.
