I have been at this property with my family for approximately 10 days between May and June this year. This was my third stay at the Meliá Lima in the last 5 years (I missed two years because of the Covid pandemic). There are three main reasons why I keep loyal to this place: 1. Location. When in Lima I like to set my base in the San Isidro District, so this hotel became a sort of an obvious choice; 2. Cost-effectiveness. The price/quality ratio of this hotel offers Value for Money; 3. Quality of the staff. I should congratulate the management of this hotel, aseverything seems to work with seamless efficiency. An added touch is that the (mostly young) representatives of the Front Desk always welcome you with a smile and are happy to get out of their way to accommodate your needs. This time I should express my personal appreciation for Marisol and Vanessa of the FD, who were invariably pleasant and responsive throughout my stay.
On the negative side: 1. The very high price of the in-house laundry service. Charging PEN 25 for a shirt (approximately 7 US$) is kind of outrageous. To put this in perspective, the iconic Gran Hotel Paracas – a 5 stars+ posh resort 250 km South of Lima (part of the Luxury Collection of the Marriott group) - would only charge you half of that for the same service. Please do something about this, as I do like to travel without having to worry about carrying back home too many unwashed clothes. 2. Charges for local calls are astronomic. Unfortunately I had to rearrange my travel itinerary, so I had to do many calls to the Call Center of Iberia. I did these calls without worrying too much because I was calling a local number in Lima, but I had to put up with a cold shower when I was presented a total telephone bill exceeding 60 US$!!!
My advice to the management would be to set the prices of the laundry service and of the local telephone calls – which incidentally many hotels would offer for free – at a more realistic level. Notwithstanding that, however, I still feel this property deserves the maximum rating.

Hello Travelers. This is my first online opinion ever. If I could give 10 stars to the Melia in Lima, I would. This is our 4th time here. The prices are amazing and we feel like we are always welcomed with smiles (and chocolates). At the Melia, I feel like we are the only ones here because of the staff and their dedication to hospitality. They have a great outdoor pool with floats, a daily free breakfast buffet that is world class, good drinks, along with top notch room service, cleaning people and maintenance. I almost forgot to mention the Gym, Sauna, Steam Room and the smell of eucalyptus. They are always smiling and genuinely like us. These are good people who understand the service industry. We have encountered travelers, diplomats, business teams, missionaries, airline staff. We see event rooms used for businesses, parties and even a spirited musical church service on Sundays that we were welcomed into. The staff cares so much and are genuinely happy everytime we see them. They love my 9 year old daughter too. We are happy to give tips here and there because they really deserve and appreciate it. Comparing to other hotels in Lima for example, we had stayed at the Westin for double the price in lima and though it has a great indoor pool, the staff was a bit snooty, did not resolve problems with a smile (leak in room, meal issue and television). Do not waste your time at another Hotel. For me and my family the Melia is 10 stars (We love Grover (frontdesk), Juan Carlos(breakfast), Maite,Kelley and Lorena (Waitresses and Room Service), Susanna (Management), Alex (Front Desk), Rosa & Victor (Cleaning), Ronald (Maintenance) and Isidro running to our Taxi to carry our luggage with a big smile. We booked from Cusco, we arrived in 2 hours. My wife settled the price with a guy at the reception. They encouraged people to shop through hotel apps. We liked the hotel, but when we arrived (1.30 am), they told us that breakfast was not included, meaning the price was increased. We told the person who attended us that how could it be that they gave me the price of a 4-star hotel and the breakfast included US 13 each. I got angry and we left at almost 2 AM. The lady who helped us told us, by way of help, that 4 blocks away there was another 4-star hotel, worth the advertising, the Costa del Sol Windham, where we stayed for the three planned nights. The hotel was full but they took care of giving us a slightly smaller room for that night and not leaving two people over 60 years old on the street. The next night they moved us to a slightly larger room with a king bed. In conclusion, I will never stay in the Meliá chain, what happens is that we are used to the word, not just like that. It was overall as nice stay as we had breakfast with plenty of food choices (opted to include), spacious room and great location. I like that it was in such a safe neighbourhood making it easy for us to walk around without worrying about snatchers. The hotel was close to the airport so it was convenient for us during our late check in. There was daily cleaning and we even had our breakfast boxed for us when we joined an early morning excursion to Huacachina Oasis. Lady at the reception was lovely. Great stay!
