Perfect for lovers of vintage charm. This place has history and soul. The staff is truly impressive. They went out of their way to help me when I needed it. The rooms are well lit, spacious, charming. I feel at home here and will always and only stay here when in Lima.

After reading a lot of reviews I was torn. They all seemed sincere and some people were really disappointed with the place. I went with as open a mind as I could and I really liked it. I think if you stay in 5 star or even 4 star hotels of the modern variety you will be disappointed. On first... More

This hotel is a beautiful reminder of the grandeur that existed in the centre of Lima before the smart set departed to the upmarket suburbs. It has a splendid facade looking out over the wonderful San Martin square, which has wall to wall high quality buildings. It's right in the middle of the historic city centre and a wonderful base... We travelled to Peru for a week long missions trip, and stayed the last two nights at the Gran Hotel Bolivar. Staff was very professional and very courteous - can't say enough good things about the staff. The hotel was a bit used as I saw in one review, but nonetheless very nice. It was clean and the water was... More

It was once and still is a beautiful hotel however the building and especially rooms are bit used. The main lobby is very representative. Staff super helpful! Room was s bit cold and the street outside made It little noisy in the early morning and up until late at night. The bathroom smelled really bad as well.

We have just returned from one night in Lima at the Gran Bolivar. The hotel is old and dated, the breakfast is not great and the noise from the idiots in Lima who insist on peeping their horns 24 hours a day can be infuriating. That said, with very little imagination you can see beyond the age of the hotel... More

We had high hopes for the Gran Hotel Bolivar, but unfortunately they were not met. The booking process was a little confusing, but there was a room waiting for us when we arrived. Our flight was late and when we got out of the cab our driver told us to go inside and not walk around at night, that the... More

Is there anywhere else where you can stay the night in a genuine Presidential suite in a 100-year old hotel for just $180? With enough rooms to get lost in, three balconies, a comfortable, huge bed, fast wifi that works and enough glamour to recall the days when this was about the smartest hotel in South America? Of course the... More

We did not stay in this hotel. We stayed in an Airbnb but we had problems with train tickets we had purchased and needed to print, fill out and scan back a form. We walked in off the street and the front desk was gracious enough to allow us to use their computer to print the form and they scanned... More

I stayed here with my family for our one night in Lima. The front desk person, Elio Arrierta, was incredibly rude and disparaging at check in. We were about to leave the hotel based on how poorly Elio treated us at check in... This started the stay on a bad note. After, we were continually ripped off. They tried to... More
