THE only hotel near the Machu Picchu archeological site. All inclusive, with wonderful, healthy food choices, beautifully presented. It was my wife's birthday, and a simple request turned into a delightful surprise. A Peruvian native trio, and entire staff dimmed the lights and presented her...More

Enjoyed sitting there after climbing Waynapiccchu. That coffee and hot chocolate with a large slice of apple pie hit the spot. It is a very busy place but the service was swift and the warm cake was excellent. This review is not for the hotel...More

Expensive but located at the door step of the Machu Picchu site. Beat the buses and get in early to the site to witness the fog rise over the mountain. Rooms were clean and comfortable and hotel service was excellent. Worth it.More

About
Description
No picture of Machu Picchu can prepare you for seeing it with your own eyes. Perched high in the Andes, it is one of few places in the world that can be described as truly unmissable. It’s on everyone’s More travel wish list, attracting a million visitors each year. But there’s only one way to see it in style: by staying at Belmond Sanctuary Lodge. When we say we’re one of a kind, we mean it. Belmond Sanctuary Lodge is the only hotel that sits at the entrance of the ancient Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. For years we have been the unofficial gateway to the Inca world, inviting our guests to explore with unrivalled access and expert guidance. While most visitors to the citadel endure a winding bus ride from Aguas Calientes, our snug retreat is a few footsteps away. Wake before sunrise and be the first through the gates. The mountains look magnificent emerging from a thick cloak of mist, and Machu Picchu is stunning in solitude. Stop, breathe and soak it all in. Less

Aquacalientas ( sp?, the town you arrive st before going to Machu Picchu, has many restaurants. I’m sorry we didn’t get to explore there before ascending to Machu Picchu. I would try another spot.

The garden suites have a nice patio but no balconies. Most of the hotel is ground floor. There are several nice terraces where you can lounge. GREAT hotel!
